Veterinary Assistant/RVT

Camino Real Pet Clinic - Burlingame, CA (30+ days ago)

We are looking for a full-time veterinary assistant or RVT to join our veterinary team in Burlingame. Your work schedule would alternate: one week Monday-Friday, next week Monday-Wednesday + Friday-Saturday. The start date is negotiable, but preferably as soon as possible. We now require prior veterinary experience for this job.

Our clinic is the quintessential family practice, complete with an old fireplace in the reception area evoking a warm, cozy feeling for our clients. Yet we provide the highest quality of general practice veterinary care on the peninsula, with the very best doctors and technology. Our top-of-the-line equipment includes digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, ultrasound, video-microscopy, Cardell multi-parameter monitor, and extensive in-house lab equipment (such as a brand-new Idexx lab suite). We work hard as a team, but like to keep it fun, and all of us are passionate about dogs and cats.

We take care of our employees, and offer exceptional compensation and benefits:
-Generous hourly pay to help offset the high cost of living in the Bay Area

-Signing bonus to help you settle into the area

-Kaiser health insurance to keep you healthy.
-Professional discount to keep your beloved pets healthy (services free, inventory at cost)
-Parking to facilitate your commute
-Scrubs to freshen your looks
-Continuing Education events to keep you current on the latest developments in veterinary medicine

What else sets us apart? We offer you a superior work-life balance: unlike other practices, our weekend hours are limited to 8am-12pm on Saturdays, and we are closed on Sundays. Furthermore, you will only work every other Saturday, leaving you two free weekends each month (most practices require weekend shifts every weekend). We provide a predictable work schedule, giving you a minimum of one month advance notice for any shift changes (viewable online). Our turnover rate is very low – most employees have worked here for many years, indicating a high level of employee satisfaction.

Your job would primarily involve rooming patients and assisting with appointments: vaccinations, blood draws, urinalysis, blood pressures, SQ fluids, x-rays, nail-trims, anal gland expressions, and more. Once you are fully trained, you will take the lead on nurse appointments for one day each week. Like all employees here, you would also help with miscellaneous administrative tasks (occasionally charging out clients, answering phones, etc) and hospital cleanup. If you have prior experience, we will get you involved with anesthesias, dentals, and surgeries as well.

You are the right fit for us if you have positive energy and enthusiasm, excellent communication and team-work skills, and a love for animals. Any job in veterinary medicine is a physical job: you will be on your feet for most of the day, and may occasionally have to carry bags of dog food or pets (up to 50 pounds).

We are a drug-free, smoke-free, equal opportunity work-place.
