JOB SUMMARY:
The Workers’ Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing and monitoring Joy Baking Group workers’ compensation program at all US locations (PA, AZ, and IA). This employee is the primary point of contact and is responsible for coordinating with employees, supervisors, Human Resources, Safety, TPAs, and service providers to ensure that claims are managed efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· In conjunction with plant Safety representative and HR Manager, receive and process/report initial accident reports and workers’ compensation claims
· Establish and maintain contact with injured employees and provide assistance with claims
· Communicate with workers’ compensation insurance carrier, doctors, nurses, departments, and health care providers to enable appropriate and timely processing of claims
· Maintain all documentation and reporting regarding claims
· Work with leave and benefit specialists to ensure appropriate use and access to applicable leave and insurance benefits
· In conjunction with HR Managers, partner with multiple departments to coordinate and supervisor the return-to-work program for employees to ensure work restriction and transitional work guidelines are followed
· Maintain confidentiality of Workers’ Compensation claim records, including all health information related to claims
· Ensure Joy Baking Group policies and procedures are complaint with state specific Workers’ Compensation regulations and industry best practices
· Work with stakeholders to optimize and adhere to internal claims procedures to ensure timely notification and proper reporting
· Meet regularly with CHRO and appropriate plant leadership to provide updates on claims and open/unresolved issues, with the objective of driving for claims closure and regular status updates
· Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual summary reports from insurance carrier/broker/ third-party administrator for distribution as requested

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure
- Able to gather, organize, compile, and summarize data.
- Involves extensive computer systems/software operation and regular use of office equipment
- Position is mostly sedentary except when visiting facilities, which requires standing and walking on a continuous basis and the ability to stoop, kneel, climb or squat on an occasional basis
- Must be able to maintain emotional control in stressful situations and manage intermittent interruptions
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods with frequent repetitive hand motions for keyboard and mouse use and occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and lifting/carrying of less than 15 pounds
- Work is performed in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
- Must be able to travel as frequently as monthly for site visits
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 5+ years of experience processing worker’s compensation claims or related experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
· Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing workers’ compensation
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally
· Experience with Microsoft products and HCM systems including UKG (Kronos) Workforce Ready
· Able to work Full time, approximately 45 hours per week

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
