About the role:
The Source-to-Contract (S2C) Analyst role provides analysis and insights to help the S2C team guide Gartner leaders in making effective business decisions. This role provides critical support to S2C Category Managers (CMs) through financial analysis, modeling, benchmarking trend analysis and contract analysis. The S2C Analyst will identify cost optimization opportunities and process compliance issues to accelerate continuous improvement and value chain realization.
What you’ll do:
- Prepares important cost analysis used by the Category Mgrs for RFx and contracts (examples within CCG include ADP & ADTRAV).
- Validates Cost Savings/Cost Avoidance submissions by Category Mgrs.
- Pulls spend and contract data to support Category Mgrs with Category Plans and BU budget preparation.
- Conducts market research and supplier financial reviews.
- Prepares all S2C team reports including:
- Owns various processes and associated documentation including Business Continuity, Spend Under Management, Category Plans & S2C Quarterly Reports.
What you’ll need:
- Financial Analysis Experience
- Prepare cost analysis & TCO models for complex RFx & contract initiatives. Assist CMs in developing cost analysis and cost comparisons for bids & contracts.
- Verify contract value (CV), savings and cost avoidance calculation methodology with CMs prior to contracts being routed for approval/signature.
- Support CMs by pulling supplier/contract spend data to help prepare for twice annual Category Plan and budget planning (current year & next year) review meetings with BU stakeholders and their FP&A partners.
- Modeling
- Develop a repository of bid pricing templates. Assist CMs in determining RFx pricing elements.
- Develop ‘scenario-based’ cost models to support CMs in evaluating and recommending options for RFPs and contracts.
- Develop RFx Scorecards for complex sourcing initiatives. Assist CMs in synthesizing RFx stakeholder scores. Develop a repository of RFx scoring templates.
- Develop ROI calculation models to support CMs.
- Develop supply base management models to bring continuity for CMs and BUs on evaluating and monitoring strategic supplier relationships and performance.
- Benchmarking
- Develop cost comparison databases to help CMs negotiate better rates:
SOW hourly rate database (e.g. hourly rates by role or deliverable for key suppliers). Benchmark rates w/ R&A, the Contingent Workforce MSP and other sources.
SaaS product cost database (e.g. cost/license, support costs, storage and other fees). Benchmark rates w/ R&A, GDM and other sources.
Subscription cost database (e.g. cost/seat, other fees)
- Develop an SLA database for IT services, network services, SaaS solutions, software, facility services and other services to assist CMs in negotiating better terms. Benchmark SLAs with R&A and other sources.
- Support CMs by benchmarking cost information for CMs using BEROE.
- Industry Trends
- Assist CMs in collecting category industry trend information to use in category plans.
- Assist CMs in researching incumbent and alternative suppliers using SupplierGATEWAY, Crunchbase, D&B, Gartner, & other sources.
- Review Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, oil & gas commodity price indexes and other source data. Prepare semi-annual S2C forecasts for changes to labor rates, travel costs and utility rates impacting Gartner for CMs and interested stakeholders.
- Research and develop analyses of the potential cost impact of key regional and global events (e.g. Brexit) on new and existing agreements.
- Contract Analysis & Efficiencies
- Create adhoc reports and trend analysis as requested by S2C leadership to evaluate efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities:
Contract Efficiency: Contract lifecycle time by BU stakeholder, CM, supplier, or geography; contract value assessments, and whether or not BU stakeholder timelines are met.
Contract Efficacy: Number of contracts by program, BU stakeholder or supplier; annualized contract value, the remaining value of terminated contracts, and other contract trends.
Contract Variance: Key standard clause variance, amount of agreements expiring without renewal dates, any identified improper approvals, number of delayed contract approvals, cancelled contracts (with and without S2C work done) and supplier disputes (pending & resolved).
- Create & analyze Apttus reports to identify and correct obvious metadata errors.
- Support the annual process to annually update contract templates. Coordinate w/ S2P Ops to upload new or revised templates into Apttus.
- Review Apttus reporting twice weekly to identify new online ‘Request to Engage S2C’ submissions with no status changes. Notify CMs who are out of compliance with the S2C SLA that requires a discussion with the stakeholder about their initiative within 72-hours.
- Assist S2C team members in creating Apttus reports.
- Workday eSourcing (ScoutRFP) Analysis
- Run a monthly Pipeline Report and coordinate w/ CMs to ensure data is correctly entered for planned, active and completed events.
- Review the Pipeline Report monthly with S2C leadership.
- Create an RFx value model to capture the savings and cost avoidance derived from RFPs & RFQs.
- Develop and maintain an RFx document library which enables CMs to review and reuse content from sourcing events across the team.
- Cost Optimization
- Analyze monthly SUM spend data across categories to help CMs identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and leverage global volumes.
- Analyze monthly AMEX spend data to identify opportunities to move BU spend to contracted suppliers.
- Analyze monthly SUM reports and out-of-compliance supplier spend. Coordinate with CMs to ensure corrective actions are identified. Review prior-year SUM reports to identify compliance failure trends by supplier, region, BU and CM.
- Develop and present to S2C leadership a monthly ‘Opportunities’ analysis outlining out-of-compliance BU spend and cost optimization opportunities.

10K Support – Contractual Commitments $1M (annually)
- Consolidate information from CLM, eSourcing Pipeline and CM/Director reports to assist the S2C leader in preparing the S2C Team Quarterly report
- Create and publish Category Manager Quarterly Review for directors showcasing contract counts, CV, Savings, Avoidance, Working Capital, and RFx by Business Units.
- Publish a monthly S2C Pipeline report for BUs and FP&A using PBI, Apttus, eSourcing Pipeline and CM/Director reports.
- Develop & publish a monthly ‘Missed Opportunity’ analysis report outlining out-of-compliance BU spend which defines risks and potential missed savings using Spend Under Management (SUM) data. Prepare ‘Compliance Failure’ notifications for the S2C leader to send to BU leadership when spend thresholds are exceeded without properly involving the S2C team in the sourcing and contracting process.
- Develop and maintain ‘Value Capture Team’ reporting for any future disruptive business events.
- Contract Risk Analysis
- Act as the S2C team’s D&B/CapIQ seat holder. Pull D&B reports for CMs to support financial review of suppliers for new and renewal contracts.
- Assist CMs in running required compliance checks (e.g. currently Dow Jones Risk Center) on new supplier contracts.
- M&A Support
- Act as the S2C project manager for M&A and divestiture initiatives.
- Create a centralized list of incoming M&A contracts with basic metadata. Facilitate contract reviews by CMs to identify and track planned actions (e.g. assignments, terminations, or no action). Coordinate w/ S2C Ops to upload new M&A contracts into Apttus.
- Create a centralized list of contracts affected by divestitures. Facilitate contract reviews by the CMs to identify and track planned actions (e.g. assignments or terminations). Ensure Apttus is properly updated.
- Create an S2C M&A opportunity analysis, with input from CMs, to identify savings/cost avoidance based on contract changes (e.g. moving services to the lower cost supplier, combining volumes to attain lower rates, etc.).
- Other
- Coordinate S2C responses for incoming registered Legal E&C inquiries.
- Provide Legal or BUs w/ copies of contracts as requested.
- S2C Team Member Transition Support : Create a report listing sourcing & contract initiatives of any departing S2C team members. Assist S2C leaders in developing coverage plans and identifying when workloads need sharing across the broader S2C team.
- Author and coordinate sending out the end-of-year S2C team message to BU stakeholders regarding timing and deadlines for Q4 sourcing and contract initiatives.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 62,400 USD - 86,940 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
