Summary: Utilize nursing skills to perform patient assessments via phone or in person and implement nursing interventions. Responsible for initiating and organizing patient education for the population this unit serves and will act as scribe for the provider.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepare equipment and assist provider with treatments and examinations of patients.
Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patients.
Act as “scribe” for the provider by entering information into the EHR system.
Work with the provider to make sure all surgical path specimens completed, logged and sent to the appropriate reference lab for processing.
Work with the provider to make sure all surgical path reports are reviewed, signed off, patient is notified and report is sent for scanning.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Refill patient medications as per clinic protocol.
Respond to all patient needs, initiate appropriate action and notify appropriate personnel as needed.
Educate the patient as directed for many topics to include but not restricted to medication use, wound care, and hygiene.
Respond to life saving situations and emergencies based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol, acquiring provider assistance as necessary.
Respond to all urgent and emergency patient telephone calls transferred from reception and initiate treatment per clinic protocol.
Regularly check messages and answer within twenty-four hours.
Call to enroll patients as needed to ensure they have most cost effective education, medications and training available.
Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
Order and stock all injectable medication to include controlled substances.
Maintain controlled substance log.
Maintain Nursing Log and Nursing Task Logs as needed.
Maintain routine daily responsibilities such as but not restricted to: stocking rooms, collecting soiled linen, collecting fresh linen, preparing surgical packs.
Work as a team with all providers and staff.

Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures, OSHA and other related regulations and guidelines, and ensure department compliance.
Use, protect, and disclose Davita patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Attend and complete all required training and development to include annual compliance training.
Perform additional duties as needed.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. At least two years’ experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must maintain current Colorado state Registered Nurse License and CPR certification. ACLS preferred.
Basic computer skills and an ability to learn and use Davita's IDX patient scheduling software.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of medical instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to make intelligent, independent decisions, initiating appropriate action and willing to take responsibility.
Must be motivated to acquire continuing education.

While performing the duties, the teammate is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands and reach with hands and arms. Hearing must be within the normal range. Requires stamina sufficient to endure extended periods of physical work.
