Summary:
The Audio Visual Engineer (AVE) reports directly to the A/V Department Manager. The A/V Engineer works closely with end users, sales, AV technicians, third-party architecture and engineering firms, and vendors to design, engineer and evaluate audio visual systems. Designs are typically targeted to meeting and presentation rooms, video conferencing rooms, and auditoriums for applications, including presentations, interactive collaboration, video/audio conferencing, digital signage, streaming video and master control centers.

Pre sale the AVE works closely with sales and clients to provide technical expertise in the design phase, creating/compiling technical documentation and communicates with other trades on the clients behalf.

Post sale the AVE will remain involved with the projects. The AVE will work heavily with the project team to insure the vision of the designed system flows through to the end of the project. The AVE will communicate as often as required with the A/V Project Supervisor and the A/V Project Lead to insure all facets of the project are clearly understood. The AVE will work with the same team to create change orders. The AVE will work with the A/V Programmer to create an intuitive user interface when a control system is required. The AVE is onsite during commissioning of large audio visual systems to ensure technical requirements are met.

Responsibilities:
Engage end user gathering requirements and analyzing to provide design and architectural recommendations as it relates to AV systems.

Develop pre-sale design documentation

Create proposals with a detailed scope of work, a full bill of materials, labor estimates, etc

Create single line drawings of Audio Visual systems

Create top view equipment layouts, elevations and mounting details

Provide technical support for troubleshooting and field technicians

Develop, organize and maintain standard operational procedures (including regular maintenance requirements) and workflow processes and procedures for AV systems

Create documentation for testing and validation of the AV systems

Maintain relevant and current knowledge and be a leader within assigned technical field

Have the ability to prioritize work efforts and multi-task in a very fast-paced environment

Provide technical consultations as needed

Attend department meetings

Attend weekly onsite customer design/coordination meetings.

Review projects for equipment accuracy post sale

Create miscellaneous materials list and submit to project supervisor for ordering

Create project documentation including, but not limited to:
A/V floor plans – equipment locations

A/V reflected ceiling plans

Conduit call-outs

Wall elevations

Signal flow diagrams

Power and heat load calculations

Cable pull schedules

Work with assigned project supervisor to ensure proper communication with the project team and other trades Inspect system installations to ensure best practices are used Commission A/V systems including but not limited to:

Testing all system functionality

Configuring audio DSPs

Configuring and programming control systems

Perform system acceptance tests

Document all system information

Perform end user training on system usage and functionality Participate in project meetings Provide technical guidance to sales, project supervisors and technicians Provide sales support and sales estimates when required Offer suggestions for process and procedure improvement

Experience:
Industry education and experience required

Minimum ( 5 ) years direct related experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment when addressing potentially volatile issues

Ability to operate as part of a team

Aggressive, Self Motivated drive to enhance overall industry knowledge

Create understandable and thorough Scopes of Work

Basic Networking

Proficient with Computers and Troubleshooting

Travel may be required throughout employment

Must possess ability to pay attention to detail

Work well in busy environment

Experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and AutoCAD

Experience with Crestron Toolbox, Biamp Tesira/Audia/Nexia, Polycom SoundStructure Studio, Extron Global Configurator.

InfoComm CTS certification (CTS-D certification preferred)
