R+L Global Logistics is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing logistics company. The Accounting Manager will have primary day-to-day responsibilities with planning, documentation, managing and controlling financial-related activities for our truckload and logistics companies. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, forecasting, financial analysis, business taxes, expense reports, etc. This also includes month end closing, cash management & analysis, cost accounting, audit support, and other tasks associated with managing the close and continuous improvement of the accounting environment. The Accounting Manager will develop and implement plans under guidance to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial statement team. Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Corporate Finance.

Accounting Manager Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide leadership and management of accounting and finance functions and financial planning (A/R, A/P, G/L, costing)
Manage day-to-day accounting functions of the team including general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense approval and reporting, and fixed assets monitoring
Must have a "hands-on" approach to include handling reconciliations, analysis, calculating and entering journal entries, tax preparation, etc when needed to ensure deadlines are met daily, monthly, annually
Document and recommend improvements to business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and scalability
Provide upper management with various types of reports and insightful explanation of notables and trends to gain visibility and understanding into the organization's financials
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep Director of Finance and upper management informed
Provide analysis of gross and net profit margins
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements recommending accounting policy changes as needed
Support the development of metrics to help improve productivity. Collaborate with Director of Finance to quantify growth opportunities. Perform analyses, as requested, to support various business decisions
Work with internal and external auditors and business partners on financial statement reviews
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and expenditures
Participate in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
Establish and implement short-range and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
Host web conferencing and online meetings to present financial results monthly
Participate in and lead special projects as required
Manage team of 4-7 comprised of accountants and accounts payable staff
Interview, hire, train and develop staff, administer progressive discipline, and may also source candidates

Accounting Manager Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of general accounting practices and relevant regulations

Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners at all levels throughout the organization

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel & Internet applications
Success managing projects such as with accounting systems, accounting integrations, etc
Must possess the ability to meet deadlines, work well under pressure, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and maintain discretion on confidential matters
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; Spanish a plus
Accounting Manager Qualifications

Summary of Accounting Manager Experience and Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance preferred
CPA, CMA or other professional accounting certifications preferred
5+ years progressively increasing accounting experience
2+ years of managerial experience
High degree of proficiency and aptitude with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, WebEx, etc.)
Experience in Manufacturing, Distribution, Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain industries a plus
Previous experience with Oracle, McLeod, Cargowise, or other transportation management systems a plus
