Responsible for DBA (database administration) work to support our 24X7 mission critical business applications and systems. This includes development, design, build and support of advanced featured databases on complex environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with functional teams, technical teams, and consultants to identify database needs and requirements and translate into technical designs.
Maintain and monitor Oracle databases in a multi-site 24/7/365 environment.
Install, index, tune, size, upgrade and maintain Oracle databases
Optimize configurations for the development environment at the structure, data and server levels.
Required to coordinate database development, upgrades, fixes, and patches with other technical staff and vendors. Must work with Change Management Team on scheduling and approval as needed.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting and document
Copy/clone databases and/or refresh schemas in the development environment.
Verify regular database back-ups and oversee and/or perform database recovery and restoration in production and non-production environments.
Plan, implement and monitor database disk space usage; analyze and provide recommendations as needed.
Manage database security including authorization, control over access, and other security measures; run reports on accounts and conduct security audits as needed.
Perform SQL tuning and debugging and PL/SQL development.
Provide support for scheduled server maintenance.
Support ongoing process improvement and automation (e.g., scripting).
Provide support for new application releases including file sharing and configuring tools.
Document the databases.
Adhere to security policies and guidelines in the daily performance of database activities.
Participate in planning and implementation of database disaster recovery.
Provide coverage for after-hours on-call support as required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced Oracle DBA Experience (Oracle RAC, Goldengate, DataGuard) is a plus
Experience with various database features like replication, clustering, partitioning, etc.
Experienced in Linux/Unix shell scripting and other DBA specific Linux/UNIX skills
Proven experience supporting 24x7 high volume mission critical production databases
Extensive experience with monitoring tools and writing custom monitoring and maintenance tools
Proven experience with various database backup methodologies and recovery strategies & procedures
Proven experience with database performance tuning and capacity planning
Proven experience with migrating databases between different database versions
Proven ability to design, implement and support database best practices
Proven ability to conduct POC’s and certifications of new database products and features
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Exposure to cloud techniques and environments
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, or Sciences or equivalent experience.
Typically requires 8+ years’ experience in a Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role
Oracle Certification is a plus
