What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
Salary: $40,315 (Step 01) to $52,411 (Step 10);
NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

As a Mail Clerk within the Earthquake Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Provide delivery of incoming mail and pick up of outgoing mail once per day, within a specified time frame.
- Receive and sign for controlled communications.
- Ensure that an authorized recipient signs for all accountable mail.
-Occasionally will handle mail that may be sensitive, confidential, biochemical or hazardous.
-Acts as both activator and registrar for USAccess PIV (Personal Identity Verification) cards for the Menlo Park campus.
- Maintain mailroom facilities in a clean, neat, and orderly manner at all times with safety in mind.
You must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
