Senior Learning Specialist

Department: Organizational Learning & Development

Reports To: Vice President, Learning & Development Manager

SUMMARY:
The Senior Learning Specialist is responsible for providing creative and effective instruction in the onboarding of employees on a diverse range of subject matter, primarily focusing on, but not limited to, Bank Store (Branch) systems, sales training, retail/store (branch) procedures and processes. Delivers, conducts assessments and makes recommendations on training, new hire on-boarding/new hire orientation, and/or other required training using a variety of techniques including classroom training, online training, and other technologies. May support business line and/or corporate wide training initiatives. May also support the integration of acquisitions through the delivery of conversion training or system changes. Develops content, customizes and maintains related training support materials, reports and delivery of software applications and services. Manages a working knowledge of BVS, along with Bank Software. Performs a variety of routine daily tasks.

Understanding that all divisions of the company work together for one common purpose – to deliver a consistent and distinctive customer experience to all customers. All employees must have knowledge of Salem Five’s digital banking services and are able to use, understand and describe these services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however other duties may be assigned.

Provide an outstanding Customer Experience to Salem Five customers and prospects
Be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Salem Five’s digital technology offering
Proficient with mobile smart phones and downloading applications. This includes the basics of texting, email and application management.
Proficient utilizing desktop applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word, Exchange)
Proficient utilizing the Internet (mobile and desktop) to search and locate information
Embrace new and emerging technologies to support operations and customers through flexibility and the ability to learn and adapt to change.
Develop, design, implement, and monitor development/training programs for bank colleagues.
Researches, develops, reviews, and updates training content, materials, manuals and audio/visual tools.
Utilizes blended adult learning theories and a variety of learning methodologies to develop and enhance the performance capabilities of team members that are necessary to achieve Salem Five’s goals.
Consistently delivers the core components of an effective opening and closing that focuses on informing, exciting, empowering, and involving the learner.
Demonstrate strong presentation and communication skills. Ability to deliver presentations to different target audiences.
Provides subject matter and facilitation expertise for instructor-led training programs.
Maximizes engagement and employs facilitation technique to maintain focus throughout learning sessions.
Works closely with department management to assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering classroom training on specific bank-wide initiatives.
Demonstrates compliance with banking business laws and regulations as defined in company policies and procedures pertinent to the position.
Consistently demonstrates professional presence balanced with a focus on participants learning needs to foster learning and maintain credibility.
Demonstrate an observable enthusiasm for the bank, course, material delivery, and learning of the participants.
Plans and organizes daily class agendas to ensure adequate preparation for all training sessions so that transfer of knowledge takes place.
Develops strong synergistic relationships with other departments as a trusted partner.
Works closely with learning specialist(s) team members and serves as a primary backup as business needs arise.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects with stated deadlines.
Demonstrates commitment to Salem Five’s core values, initiatives, and strategic priorities.
Regular attendance is essential to this position, in addition to willingness and ability to travel to other Salem Five locations as necessary. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s or equivalent preferred from a general business or communications field. A minimum of five to seven years related training experience in banking, retail or customer focused, service business required. Direct experience in a branch system helpful or equivalent combination of education, training and banking experience.
Curriculum design and development expertise; proficiency in eLearning, in-depth knowledge of various learning management systems (LMS) and training software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret sometimes complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to prepare clear and concise written communications using sound grammar/punctuation, sentence structure, and style. Ability to verbally communicate effectively in small and mid-size group situations as a participant and as a trainer. Bi-lingual skills a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

TEAMWORK

Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views and organizational change; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit and has a curiosity and passion for learning.

SOFTWARE SKILLS

Solid understanding of and natural ability to learn various systems and applications that allow for the delivery of Retail training programs. Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word and Excel required, Access and Power Point strongly preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with more widely known e-mail systems and to utilize the Internet as a research source strongly recommended.

Ability to communicate an energy and passion for organizational learning, strong understanding of and support for internal and external customer sales & service, strong sense of team orientation, ability to lead and participate in the development of innovative solutions. Clearly articulated written and verbal communication skills, ability to organize and present information and recommendations effectively in both small and large group settings, and ability to build and expand strong working relationships throughout the organization in support of the concept of organizational interdependency.
