About this role
Director, Technology will be overall responsible for MRDP’s global tech team and strategy. The team has yet to be established so first task will to be to put in place the required team and processes. Director, Technology must work closely with the product and other delivery teams (Project and BA) to provide technical support which will enable effective delivery of projects and also work closely with all other business team leads to support as required. The role will also expect overall management of IT infrastructure, operations and coordination of security and policies. The CIO function is a global unit so Director, Technology will provide some global oversight and will coordinate European activity as required.

Role responsibilities
This role will have a direct reporting line into CIO with direct reports from each of the local markets (US and Europe)
Development of MRDP Global IT strategy and how it supports and influences our business model
Line management of VP engineering and eventually architecture/infrastructure
Overall responsible for any operational tech issue management and resolution
Operational management/support of MRDP in-house built applications
Support of infrastructure/networks/desktop (in alignment with Munich Re group IT as required)
Manage MRDP’s infrastructure, effectively providing for optimum uptime and performance
Define, implement and ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures
Ensure current global processes and procedures are adhered to; evaluate and implement new processes and procedures where necessary
Educate and inform MRDP global business users about security procedures and general IT best practice
Communication of tech updates to leadership team
Responsible for relationship management of external systems/hardware/infrastructure/ contracts/services
Supports and leads tech changes that directly improves MRDP’s effectiveness and efficiency
Responsible for the regional US IT operating environment, covering end users, servers, environments and applications
Ensure provision of high quality end-user support
Liaise and collaborate openly across the other “Delivery Functions” (Projects, BA, product, Infrastructure, Networks, Support etc.) to ensure single and aligned message
Contribute to the management of and the development of contingency and business continuity plans
Work with Project and Product team to implement new technologies and applications
In all key projects, the VP Technology will take an active facilitation role in the analytical phase of projects to ensure the best options/solutions are presented to the business from an operational perspective where new applications software or commercial services are to be purchased ensure that the appropriate level due diligence is carried out prior to contract signing


Essential skills & experience
Proven experience in managing people, processes and change management
Necessary gravitas to deal with senior business owners
Vendor management experience in an outsourced environment
Proven leadership ability to coordinate the efforts of others in the delivery of IT services to the business and engender a spirit of teamwork and cooperation amongst colleagues
Negotiation and influencing skills.
Cost and budget management skills
Ideally worked in a startup environment before
Experience working in the Insurance industry
Flexible, energetic
Interested in and focused on working in latest technologies
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in managing IT teams
Minimum of five (5) years related change management process improvement initiatives; development of IT shared service center and SAP ES technology
