Business Unit Description:
Bob Evans Farms operates in multiple convenience foods categories within grocery and club. It holds #1 market positions in three major categories. This winning brand has been experiencing strong growth, a trend it's expecting to continue mostly through its leadership in the refrigerated dinner and breakfast categories. In addition to its flagship Bob Evans brand, the Bob Evans Farms portfolio proudly includes Owens, Simply Potatoes, Egg Beaters, Davidson's and Pineland Farms. Bob Evans Farms products are distributed nationally in retailers throughout North America. This includes national grocery chains like Kroger, Safeway, Whole Foods Market, and SuperValu; mass merchants Target and Walmart; as well as club stores and via e-commerce.
Responsibilities:
This Director of Distribution & Warehousing is responsible for the Bob Evans Farms 3PL Warehouse Operations and finished goods inventory. This position will work in conjunction with Supply Planning, our plants, and co-packers on material/product flow, and will lead all company Network Optimization initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proactive solution seeker with a strong background in logistics operations and analytics and is well connected with warehouse providers across the country. This position will drive efficiencies and improvements throughout supply chain operations.
Accountabilities:
Day-to-day management of the company’s 3PL providers. This includes but is not limited to working with the 3PL providers on labor plans to meet demand, inventory reconciliation, proper lot rotation, invoice approval, and standard KPI generation and review
Forecast, plan, manage and ensure locations meet defined financial targets. Ensure mitigation plans are implemented as required.
Build and maintain relationships with 3PL warehousing operations at the local and corporate levels based on operational execution and value creation. Represent the company in customer meetings and presentations to drive retention and growth.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Adapt to internal and customer demands to provide a variety of services including warehousing, distribution, transportation, inventory management, and fulfillment services.
Build and maintain relationships with customer service and sales to identify opportunities for new services and further expansion of logistics capability.
Identifies problems and inefficiencies in logistics processes; presents and implements enhancements and solutions to address these issues.
Maintains current knowledge of logistics and technology developments and trends; recommends and implements improvements based on this knowledge to provide more efficient service to clients.
This position will have one direct report (Manager, Distribution & Warehousing); the entirety of the org will be five exempt employees (Manager + four Analysts)
Work closely with Supply Planning to understand storage needs in the short term, long term, and seasonal needs; implement strategies to support these business needs
Leads all network optimization initiatives for the Supply Chain, including distribution footprint changes, acquisitions, etc.
Build a network of resources in the industry for use in solving complex problems or optimizing distribution footprint
Enterprise CHEP pallet reporting and reconciliation
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
Master’s Degree preferred in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
Must be proficient with ERP/MRP
Working knowledge with SAP preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with SAP and/or Oracle ERP systems
Must possess the acumen to build successful cross-functional relationships with Finance, Transportation, Operations, IT, and other internal and external stakeholders
Six Sigma/Lean Continuous Improvement preferred
Detailed oriented, organized, and the ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently without daily oversight
Ability to travel 10-20%
