Mary Free Bed is a not-for-profit, nationally accredited, rehabilitation hospital with 167 inpatient beds – 119 acute and 48 sub-acute. There are numerous outpatient programs as well as home and community services. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Build national relationships with health systems in the following areas of post-acute delivery that will lead to consulting projects, joint venture opportunities, professional services agreements
Acute care therapy delivery
Long term acute care
Outpatient therapy delivery
Build an effective business development force to identify prospective clients and develop proposals for services.
Build a national operational structure with realistic sales goals and scalable service acquisition to meet client contract specifications.
Develop a reasonable, flexible, and competitive fee structure that does not serve as a barrier to prospective clients agreeing to terms, but provides for a financially viable business model.
Provide a client-first business model with service recovery elements to build a satisfied client base from the beginning.
Provide leadership in the development and dissemination of best practices.
Establish effective working relationships with peers both internal and external to MFB.
Develop and initiate business strategies to cultivate a sustainable consulting line. Foster a customer oriented work environment with emphasis on dedication to helping customers, respect for individuals, highest standards of quality, innovation, empowerment, and teamwork by developing and implementing policies and practices that reflect the vision of Mary Free Bed.
Manage group, projects and department budget.
Facilitate implementation of consulting projects and new inpatient/outpatient programs outside the state of Michigan
Establish project team membership, timeline and goals.
Lead the negotiation and execution of the legal agreement between the MFB Advisory Group and the host hospital system.
Develop a one-year and five-year strategic plan for the new unit.
Work with host hospital leader of Marketing to build awareness of the program within the community, including referring hospitals and physicians, local agencies, and the general public.
Provide leadership in identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with key referring hospitals discharge planners, referring physicians, and insurance company case managers.
Develop a financial business model and budget.
Develop policies and procedures; establish clinical protocol consistent with accreditation requirements and MFB’s requirements, ensuring adequate integration with host facility and MFB Rehabilitation Network.
Establish systems and processes (referrals, admissions, EMR, billing and reimbursement, discharges), ensuring adequate integration with host facility and MFB Rehabilitation Network.
Participate in hiring Program Manager to hire staff and oversee unit operation. Assesses staffing requirements and training needs.
Work with partner facility on construction/renovation project and equipment purchases. Assure that physical plant meets inspection requirements of all outside regulatory bodies.

Essential Job Qualifications:
Education: Master’s Degree
A minimum of ten years of clinical and management experience in acute hospital and/or a rehab setting.
Experience with assisting existing or with starting new acute physical medicine and rehabilitation programs.
Ability to develop and implement a customized plan that addresses and delivers solutions unique to each partner/customer.
Sense of urgency, collaborative team style, and ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities with strong decision-making skills.
Excellent analysis and decision-making skills.
Ability to multi-task and delegate tasks for timely project completions.
