The Red Hat Global Learning Services (GLS) team is looking for a Senior System Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with a global team to manage the operations of critical infrastructure that run the learning classroom and lab environments for our Red Hat Training offerings. You will work closely with our cloud lab architect to help design and implement the infrastructure needed to support our learning environment and develop architecture plans for future growth within our lab environment. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities:
Deploy and manage Red Hat OpenStack Platform compute, storage, networking, and other services on bare metal providers, including IBM Cloud, across multiple geographically distributed datacenters
Deploy and manage Red Hat CloudForms or Red Hat Insights to collect metrics, generate reports, and perform capacity and utilization analysis across the infrastructure
Manage GLS’s Red Hat OpenShift shared cluster
Monitor uptime, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot and remediate infrastructure-related issues
Perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades to ensure that security and service impacting errata are patched
Manage complex software-defined networks (SDNs) to provide classrooms and exam environments with isolation where required
Coordinate testing of classroom and labs with practice DevOps lab engineers to ensure that infrastructure features can be adapted to meet business needs
Solid understanding of and experience as a network administrator
Bachelor’s degree, U.S. or foreign equivalent, in computer science, information systems, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related role, or no degree and 7+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related role
5+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or other Linux distributions and at least one other technology like Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, or Red Hat OpenShift
Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform operating in production environments
Understanding of SDN and the neutron service
Basic to advanced Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform scripting skills to manage deployment and change management
Ability to use Git and GitHub, including an understanding of branching, merging, and tagging
Understanding of monitoring tools like Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), or others
Understanding of basic performance tuning concepts like identifying bottlenecks, workload optimization, capacity analysis, throughput and latency, metrics, and subsystems
Red Hat OpenStack platform administrator or engineer certifications are a plus
Understanding of the following server and network infrastructure technologies:
Intel 64 or AMD64 CPU-based systems, including UEFI firmware
Remote management interfaces like Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), Dell Remote Access Controller (DRAC), Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), APC, or others
Fundamental understanding of core, edge switching and routing, load balancers, and firewall devices
Network VLAN tagging and interface teaming or bonding; Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP)
Storage systems and protocols including RAID, iSCSI, FC, NFS, Red Hat Ceph Storage, or GlusterFS
