The Marine Electrician is an expert in shipboard electrical systems and equipment. This position requires the individual to have extensive experience in trouble shooting and in handling the removal, installation, repair, rebuild and/or overhaul of various shipboard electrical equipment and/or its components. Experienced with documentation, i.e. produce drawings, completion of forms and associated reports is also required. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work, with minimal supervision and has the ability to lead a small crew. Our shipyard is located in Alameda, CA on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay.
The following qualifications are also required:
Minimum 4 years marine and or industrial electrical experience
Skilled in 480, & 208 vac 3 phase systems
Skilled in the use of various test equipment (Megger, VOM, Amp-meter)
Experienced in troubleshooting, repair and installation of motors and motor controls
Experienced in performing and documenting operational testing of various electrical equipment
Comprehension of schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and able to create hand drawn diagrams of disconnected and or removed electrical equipment is a required
Available to work late afternoons, early mornings and weekends as needed – a flexible schedule is a must
