Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to join the Ansible Engineering team in Durham, NC. In this role, you will work closely with a team of talented engineers helping the team to improve efficiency and achieve results through your contributions. You should be friendly, collaborative, and passionate about working with engineering teams to achieve success.

Primary job responsibilities
Work with the Ansible team to introduce, facilitate, and promote new ideas and processes which will improve the performance, productivity, and sustainability of the organization
Identify and remove impediments, sharpen team focus, and operationalize continuous improvement with the team
Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project; manage project scope and changes
Develop tooling, metrics, and processes to measure team performance and progress
Facilitate cross-team coordination by helping to define and implement scalable practices across the organization
Mentor, coach, train, and help existing teams reinforce best practices
Actively partner with the Product Manager and Technical Leads to maintain an effective work backlog for the team
Required skills
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline
5+ years of experience working as a technical or agile project manager for a software development team
Data-oriented analysis skills for measuring and managing delivery
Ability to understand the technical details of the software your teams are working on
Knowledge of and experience with agile techniques, including release planning, scrum of scrums, continuous integration (CI), continuous testing, paired programming, and automated testing
Experience working with geographically distributed teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
Experience working with Jira or similar software

Experience with the following are considered a plus:
Knowledge of the Red Hat’s enterprise software solutions, Linux operating systems, open source software development, and application container technology
Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or other equivalent certifications
Previous engineering management, product management, or product design experience within an agile environment
