City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
City Colleges of Chicago’s (CCC) district level Marketing and Communications Department strives to create and maintain a strong, highly integrated district wide strategic marketing plan, essential to promoting the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) brand, building public awareness and a positive image of CCC, and supporting student recruitment strategies. In addition, the external communications program advances City Colleges’ strategic performance goals and leverages the coordinated resources of the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Reporting to the Executive Director-Communications, the Director-Content Communications is responsible for implementing district-wide strategies directed at developing content communications to advance public awareness of CCC’s seven colleges and programs.
The Director-Content Communications is an experienced, organized project manager, managing the logistics of content creation, overseeing staff in creating content and bringing communications and marketing plans to life. The position maintains a strategic view of City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) and builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders across the district to:
inform employees and students of institutional strategy, goals, policies, and procedures, and seek input to shape new/revised policies and practices;
research, draft and guide implementation of new/revised policy measures;
build internal capacity across the district to successfully and consistently communicate strategic and operational priorities to all stakeholders.
This role will be eligible to work from home after your first 30 days of employment at CCC.
Assists the Executive Director-Communications in the development and implementation of communications to help drive increased understanding and support for CCC’s strategic direction.
Develops communications to inform students of policies and practices.
Develops communications to inspire CCC employee engagement, satisfaction and productivity.
Develops communications to drive awareness of colleges and programs to further enrollment and/or strategic initiatives.
Measures and improves the degree to which internal stakeholders receive, respond to, and act upon communications about district policies and procedures. Evaluates success of all internal communications strategies.
Delivers data insights and researches best practices to inform policy. Drafts and guides implementation of new/revised policies with a focus on communications. Aligns key internal stakeholders around policy communications.
Prepares communications materials to share progress with key internal and external stakeholders.
Stays abreast of emerging issues and proactively develops communications strategies to address them.
Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or a related field.
Five years of experience in communications/marketing/public relations.
Three to five years in internal communications or comparable role highly desirable.
Proven track record of success facilitating and executing comprehensive communications strategies.
Knowledge of best uses of communications media, including print, social media, web, video, design and digital marketing.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced communications environment.
Excellent writing skills.
Exceptional communication and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively, remain composed under pressure, speak fluently on sensitive issues, and maintain confidentiality as needed.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
