The Lending Assistant supports the Lending Team in managing existing customer relationships and pursuing new loan opportunities by assisting Loan Officers in routine and daily activities. Routine tasks performed in this position include tasks such as processing applications, coordination of documentation preparation, ongoing customer care, and maintenance of current file documentation. The Lending Assistant is responsible for providing an exceptional customer service experience to both bank personnel and to customers. This position works extensively with lending officers, customers, and legal counsel. At all times, he or she assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide exceptional customer service through assisting loan customers with questions and problem resolution
  • Identify and order documentation required to process loans
  • Work exception reports to ensure complete and accurate current loan files
  • Assist Loan Officers in daily operations
  • Develop and prepare reports and records for special projects as assigned
  • Assist with processing loan applications
  • Prepare loan tickets to reflect loan payments and advances
  • Prepare loan document preparation instructions and booking sheets
  • Prepare funding checklists and assist in the coordination of loan closings with title companies, attorneys, and customers
  • Prepare and issue past due letters
  • Serve as a notary
  • Perform other duties within banking center as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of related banking experience in loan processing to include knowledge of loan documentation, software, and working with laws, regulations, policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Intermediate skills in personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to analyze data with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift 20 pounds
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • View a computer terminal for extended periods of time
  • Requires some stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects and repetitive finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, or neck movement
  • Works in a cubicle or office setting
  • Quiet to moderate noise level
