Our facilities service line is responsible for building evaluations to make sure windows, roofing, façade and other components are workings as they should. This service line provides great professional growth opportunities and the opportunity for learning new skills.

General Responsibilities:
As a Facilities Staff Engineer you will be responsible for managing/conducting property condition assessments, construction monitoring, draw reviews, structural diagnostics evaluations/assessment, and building enclosure consulting. You will review construction documents, conduct field observations and assessments, make corrective recommendations, perform cost evaluations, and prepare formal reports. This position requires basic technical understanding of assessing building components, cost estimating experience, and experience in evaluating/analyzing provided data. Must be detail, procedure and documentation-oriented. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, as well as be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Additional Duties:
Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
Works closely with senior-level Project Managers to gain project management experience.
Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills.
Completes own design work using computer-aided techniques.
Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects. Serves as a technical advisor to junior-level project team members.
May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
Participates in marketing, sales, and business development efforts.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly be required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, you will occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Overnight travel will be required with this position.

Education/Experience:
MS degree in Engineering with some minimal exposure to the consulting environment (i.e., summer internships, co-operative positions, or part-time work while in school),
or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in the field of expertise.

License/Registration:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Registration as an Engineer-in-Training is preferred.
