Director of Field Operations

We are looking for a self driving professional to ensure our guests and partners have an uncommonly excellent experience. This includes making sure all aspects of our logistics, warehouse, delivery, fleet management, inventory, and maintenance programs operate safely, effectively, efficiently and, above all, professionally.

This position will be responsible for multiple locations primarily in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. Are locations are based on the coast and are responsible for delivering beach gear (bikes, kayaks, chairs, games, etc) to vacation properties.

We have a year long staff that will report to this position and a seasonal part-time staff.

We provide EXCELLENT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE and as we grow our success depends on maintaining this but at a much larger scale.

This position reports to the managing partner and Vice President of Operations.

This position is perfect for someone who wants to join fast growing company and have a large impact. We need someone who can see the big picture and make learned decisions but can also roll up their sleeves.

Job Responsibilities

  • Enhance and develop procedures, metrics and policies for territory operations and ensure staff is trained, prepared.
  • Maintaining proper staffing levels for seasonal and off season demands.
  • Maintaining proper inventory levels and inventory tracking.
  • Fleet Management including maintaining proper levels of company owned and rental vehicles and including the proper distribution of assets to territories based on demand and season fluctuations. This also includes making sure vehicles are safe, functional and operational and managing maintenance programs.
  • Responsible for Operational Budget and ensuring budget KPI’s are met.
  • Responsible for setting operational KPI’s to re-enforce company goals, the tracking of KPI’s and enforcement.
  • Maintaining all aspects of operational safety.
  • Driving efficiency improvements in warehouse operations
  • Driving route and delivery efficiency and safety.
  • Determine purchasing needs for gear, tools, and operational equipment.
  • Choose, operate and configure systems used for operation management.


  • Passionate about developing uncommonly excellent customer experience.
  • Must be able to manage a geographically distributed workforce
  • Experience in logistics, fleet management, warehouse management.
  • Experience with cost management and setting and managing budgets
  • Experience setting and monitoring KPIs and making management adjustments as needed
  • Experience managing a rotating inventory.
  • Experience with delivery routing and logistics


  • High functional analytical abilities including expertise with spreadsheets and quantitative analysis
  • High functioning ability work remotely
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Managing teams and projects remotely
  • Technical aptitude and/or experience with cloud based business systems.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to enforce policy and procedures.
  • Mentor and disciplinarian.

Job requirements:

  • Live in the Atlanta, Georgia or Charleston South Carolina Areas. Florida Panhandle or South West Florida will also be considered.
  • Must be able to travel extensively (2 to 3 weeks a year)
  • Excellent driving record
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • College Degree or equivalent
  • 2 to 5 years experience in logistics, warehouse management or process efficiency
  • College Degree Required (Systems Engineering, Logistics, etc)

Systems we use:

  • Microsoft office/G-suite
  • Various cloud based and home built applications for warehouse, inventory and delivery management
  • Must be proficient with computers and cloud-based systems.

Candidates are not expected to be experts or even have experience with in the systems we use but would need to show a demonstrated history, ability or aptitude with similar platforms or tools. Candidate will be expected to manage these tools for the company and/or assess new tools as needed as they relate to customer experience to support company growth.

Through our partnerships we improve Guest satisfaction, increase the number of property rentals per year and drive year-over-year repeat rentals. But more importantly we put smiles on hundred of thousand of beach goers by providing free bikes, kayaks, chairs, umbrellas, fishing trips, bonfires to beach Guests. Guests arrive at their properties to find VayK Beach Gear waiting for them and when they leave VayK Gear picks it up. No packing, no crowded cars, no worries.
