Job Description
Directly supporting and partnering with the leadership team, the Human Resources (HR) Specialist will play a key role in leading the people side of the organization. The HR Specialist will provide information and support to employees and leadership as well as execute human resources activities, processes, and procedures. The goal is for this to grow from a mid-level position to a senior-level position. Key responsibilities include:
- Talent Acquisition and Staffing - full-cycle recruitment execution to include developing job descriptions, leading all sourcing activities, interviewing & candidate selection, and managing post-offer processing (drug screening, reference checks, and all DOT certification activities
- Employee Onboarding - manage employee onboarding to include new hire paperwork, reviewing company policies and procedures
- Health & Safety - manage driver qualification files and the overall DOT process
- Employee Performance Management - partner with managers to execute the progressive employee performance and attendance process as well as developing and maintaining appropriate documentation
- Manage all external requests for employee information to include providing employment verification on current and previous employees
- Employee Benefits - manage new employee and annual enrollment process for health insurance and retirement benefits
- Employee Leave Management - manage leaves of absence to include FMLA eligibility and paperwork
- Worker's Compensation Management - maintain employer logs and execute all aspects of the worker's compensation process to include injury reporting/investigations, light-duty modifications, and return to work procedures
- Employee Relations - processes and responds to employee relations matters that require attention, investigation, or intervention to include conflict resolution
- Company Policies and Procedures - ensure all employee policies and up to date, distributed, and understood by the employee population
- Record-Keeping - Maintains personnel files and human resource records and compiles reports as needed
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations to include OSHA, Employment Law Practices, Labor Law, and Harassment prevention
Shift Schedule
Monday-Friday: 7:30am-5:30pm
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required - with a major in Employee Relations, Human Resources Management, Psychology, or another related field preferred
- SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred
- 2-5 years of experience practicing HR in a field-based front-line organization required, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Skills and Capabilities
- Understanding of, and some experience with, most or all the core aspects of Human Resource Management (staffing, employee relations, HR compliance, training & development, health & safety, compensation & benefits management, performance management, leave of absence management, and payroll)
- Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize competing responsibilities
- Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism
- Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations and making balanced decisions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong expertise in developing solutions based on facts/data analytics
- Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with leaders
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to present a point of view in varied business situations
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, and email
