SUMMARY

The Tool RoomEngineer will be an expert in metal work tooling so that they can confidently leadsupport for all aspects of Paragon’s CNC needs. They will manage the tool room forinternal customers and coordinate with external suppliers. This individual willproactively learn and instruct others in best practices regarding proper use ofCNC tooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include thefollowing, other duties may be assigned

LEADERSHIP

  • Leads tool room team for all tool roomfunctions.
  • Lead Paragon tooling strategy for all machineswith machine supervisors, leads, and machinists.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Estimating.
  • Participate in design reviews concerning specialtooling needs related to project specifics.
  • Participates in the SQDIP visual managementprocess.
  • Coordinates 5S activities and projects for toolroom area.

MANANGEMENT

  • Managesall Paragon Tooling through coordination with CNC work centers.
  • Organizesand coordinates delivery and receipt of job specific tooling to CNC work centers.
  • MaintainsZoller digital tool database and “TMS” tooling management software.
  • Responsiblefor managing the quality of work holding components.
  • Responsiblefor managing the quality of tooling and holders.
  • ProvidesZoller measurements for internal customer needs.
  • Providescalibration checks for CNC probes.
  • Managersthe Paragon consignment inventory.
  • Coordinatesinventory supply and demand with vendors to maintain appropriate levels.
  • Assurethe best tooling technology aligns with today’s best machining standards.
  • Seeksout vendors and suppliers to obtain RFQ’s while negotiating costs.
  • Selectsvendors and product brands for tool testing and performance.
  • Performstool cost analysis.
  • Proactivelystays up to date with new tooling technology and can make recommendations fromthis knowledge.
  • Workswith Machine Leads and Programmers to establish tool management requirementsfor sister tooling and to calculate tooling life expectancy.
  • Responsiblefor the scheduling, development, and management of cutter testing and use criteria.

INSTRUCTION

  • Promotes effective learning by developingtraining guidelines and visual tools.
  • Trains and directs employees on proper tool useand standard tool management.
  • Educates employees on tool room rules forutilizing the exchange between room and CNC machine.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of machining various materialsor mold making experience. Experience operating a Zoller tool measurementmachine preferred. Experience working/negotiating with tooling vendors and/orsuppliers also preferred. Tooling management software experience a plus.
