Job Summary and Mission
Excellent accounting opportunity to support fast growing international markets within China and Asia Pacific regions.
Starbucks is seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior accountant to join the China and Asia Pacific accounting team. This position is responsible for the accounting activities necessary to produce accurate and timely financial statements along with supporting, developing, and improving the financial processes that enable sound planning and decision-making for internal and external business unit reporting.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Support the month-end close process through the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations and facilitation of monthly close calls with international markets
Monthly management reporting on actual performance vs forecast and analysis of trended results
Quarterly reporting of actual performance versus prior year to support internal and external reporting requirements
Recommends and implements ideas and innovations to improve upon existing systems, work processes and procedures affecting month-end and quarter-end close, monthly and quarterly reporting, and other ad-hoc analysis
Support Starbucks SOX program by developing, maintaining, and improving business internal controls
Facilitate the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and company accounting policies
Research and recommend accounting treatment for new business activities and business transactions
Translate and document international related accounting standards to US GAAP
Support new accounting system implementation activities and new market integration activities
Support new global business models through process improvements, project management, and documentation
Deals successfully with ambiguity, managing multiple priorities and able achieve results during times of complex changes.
Effectively influences to help support and implement organizational priorities and initiatives.
Works collaboratively across multiple teams within the organization to develop consensus and establish common alignment.
Demonstrates a clear commitment to the highest standards of professional and personal counduct.
Summary of Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
5+ years relevant experience, including experience at a multi-national company
Prior public accounting experience preferred
Specialization (2 years) in either corporate financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, consolidations accounting, foreign exchange accounting, or SEC accounting
Ability to communicate in Mandarin or Japanese or Korean (oral and written) preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of US GAAP, international accounting standards, and internal sox business controls
Ability to assess business processes and implement improvements and controls
Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively in a fast paced environment, while exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and continuously driving process improvements.
Strong problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box.
Project management skills, using analytical abilities and sensible approaches.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate financial results to individuals at various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner
Strong financial analysis skills including conceptual understanding of rate/volume impacts
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Experience with new accounting system implementations or existing systems enhancements.
Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Oracle and Hyperion) preferred.
Ability to build relationships and influence others in order to achieve successful outcome in cross-functional projects and activities
Flexibility to conduct conference calls in the evening to support partners in Asia
