Stonyrock Partners (“Stonyrock”) founded in 2019, is a private equity firm seeking to acquire equity stakes in a diverse set of high-quality, middle-market alternative asset management firms, including managers of private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure and venture capital.

Position:
Stonyrock is led by its Founders, Craig Schortzmann and Sean Gallary, former executives with The Blackstone Group and The Carlyle Group, respectively. Mr. Schortzmann and Mr. Gallary have a long history of investing in GP stakes transactions through various market cycles, having deployed +$2bn of capital across 24 minority stake transactions starting back in 20P04. Stonyrock has also hired several industry veterans to join its Investment Team and Affiliate Development Platform. In addition to acquiring minority equity interests in alternative asset management firms, Stonyrock’s will be partnering with portfolio companies post-transaction. Stonyrock will work with its portfolio companies across a number of strategic initiates to enhance portfolio companies’ near- and long-term enterprise value.

The Private Equity Associate position will support senior team members through the life-cycle of investments (e.g. sourcing, evaluation, underwriting, negotiations, execution, post-deal strategy/value-add, exit). Candidates should have significant financial valuation and modeling experience as well as strong strategic thinking capacity. The position will report directly to one or more of Stonyrock’s Principals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work directly with Stonyrock’s senior team on all aspects of investment related matters, including

Conduct research on GPs, portfolio companies, business sectors and investment strategies
Build, maintain and review detailed dynamic financial models (e.g. various valuation methodologies, scenario analyses and sensitivity analyses)
Preparation of valuation analysis materials for the Investment Team, including background information, due diligence summaries, etc.
Prepare marketing and new business development presentations
Provide general support to senior members of Stonyroc
Actively participate in Due Diligence and Investment Committee meetings
Communicate with senior level executives, including Founders of portfolio companies

Qualifications

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
College degree or foreign equivalent

Proven ability to multi-task while maintaining superior work quality

Exceptional performance and top tier ranking in current role (to be confirmed by Stonyrock)

3-7 years of experience providing complex analytical support including creating and reviewing valuation and other financial analyses in support of due diligence activities (will also consider exceptional cases of those with 2 years of experience)

Experience preparing professional presentations utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; performing financial valuation analysis and building complex financial models; conducting industry and product research; analyzing corporate and financial information; participating in execution of M&A transactions

Self-motivated with strong work ethic demonstrating determination and stamina

Ability to work independently and deliver “client ready” work product to the Investment Team

Team player; willing to “wear many hats” to support both the Investment Team as well as Stonyrock’s Affiliate Development Platform and other areas of Stonyrock

Superior communication and presentation skills, including ability to deliver succinct and persuasive analyses

Willingness to work long hours and weekends (when necessary) while contributing to a positive culture
