JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Tester (Contractual)
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Quality Assurance
DEFINITION: The Information Technology Quality Assurance (QA) Tester assists in application analysis and quality assurance, test strategy development, test case creation, and test script development of all assigned applications. The QA tester assists in developing support materials and end user training. The QA testers primary responsibilities includes test execution, managing defects, generating reports, communicating issues, and documenting test results. The QA tester has an in depth understanding of systems integration and its overall effect on applications, including the complexity and user perspective of these applications.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews business requirements documents and assists in development and documentation of test plans to ensure that all requirements are verified during testing and are reflected in test scripts.
- Has a full understanding of systems integration and how it affects all peripherals from custom applications and its links to third party software integrations on multiple platforms.
- Plan, design, and author effective test documentation, including test plan execution and test scenarios/cases that meet business requirements.
- Organizes and/or conducts testing of new products and upgrades to existing products for medium to large scale deployments.
- Test implementations/integration with third party platforms. This includes application development team with QA testing of products prior to product rollout, including but not limited to systems, systems integration, performance, stress and UAT testing
- Communicates the status of testing, including reporting of overall test results.
- Sets recommendations/best practices for defining and continually improving testing deliverables and processes.
- Analyzes issues reported by end-users during User Acceptance Testing and determines the root causes as well as proposed development solutions.
- Assists in the preparation of application release notes and technical documentation.
- Interest in writing, revising, and verifying quality standards and test procedures for program design, product evaluation and quality assurance
- Working knowledge and ability to test for web content and application compliancy with WCAG 2.0 Level AA Standards.
- Provides recommendations to sponsor and customers/clients regarding support/use of application/product.
- May assist with any necessary support procedures and ensuring appropriate training and support documentation is in place
- May assist with preparation and execution of technical support and/or customer/client focused training sessions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field from an accredited college preferred.
Note: Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform the duties of the position may be considered.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work of this position is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment.

RATE OF PAY:
$30.91 per hour (Contractual)

Pre-Employment Requirements:
- All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $106.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
