Job Title: Principal Scientist Immunology & Inflammation with focus on Fibrosis
About the Company
Pinetree Therapeutics Inc is a biotech startup developing bispecific antibodies for cancer therapy. Our mission is to deliver on the promise of therapeutic antibodies to treat drug resistant cancers and immune disorders and create the next generation of transformative medicines for patients. We are a group of highly motivated, dedicated professionals working collaboratively in a multi-faceted team with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. Pinetree Therapeutics is located near Fresh Pond in West Cambridge.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Scientist to lead and drive research initiatives in the field of immunology and inflammation, with a special focus on fibrosis. The individual will lead efforts to develop novel therapies targeting fibrotic and inflammatory pathways, integrating cutting-edge immunological and fibrotic disease models. This role will have a critical impact on the development of transformative therapies, bridging discovery research and early-stage clinical development. The Principal Scientist will also provide strategic direction, mentor junior team members, and collaborate across functions to advance our mission of delivering groundbreaking treatments for immune and fibrotic diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Direct Research: Oversee the development and execution of research strategies to elucidate mechanisms underlying immune-related and fibrotic diseases. Provide scientific leadership in identifying key inflammatory and fibrotic pathways for therapeutic intervention.
- Innovative Assay Development: Design, develop, and validate complex immunological assays and fibrosis models to characterize the efficacy and mechanism of therapeutic candidates, including multispecific antibodies.
- Fibrosis and Inflammation Mechanistic Studies: Conduct advanced mechanistic studies to investigate the role of inflammatory pathways, immune cells, and fibroblasts in disease progression. Investigate the immune-fibrotic interface and identify novel therapeutic targets.
- Preclinical Development: Lead in vivo and in vitro studies to assess therapeutic impact on fibrosis, inflammation, and immune modulation. Develop and optimize fibrosis models in animal and human systems, with a focus on translational relevance.
- Collaborative Research Leadership: Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including pharmacology, bioinformatics, clinical, and biomarker development, to drive preclinical and clinical research initiatives.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and guide junior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and research associates. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific rigor.
- Data Analysis and Communication: Analyze complex datasets and effectively communicate research outcomes through reports, presentations, and scientific publications. Represent the company at conferences and external collaborations.
- Strategic Input and Project Leadership: Provide strategic input on project goals, timelines, and resourcing. Act as a key contributor to project leadership teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Inflammation, Fibrosis, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience in immunology and fibrosis research.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in fibrosis biology and immune mechanisms, including cytokine signaling, immune cell recruitment, and immune-fibrotic interactions.
- Proven track record of leading fibrosis and inflammation research programs, including drug discovery and development projects with clear therapeutic implications.
- Expertise in advanced immunological and fibrotic models, including hands-on experience with multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, MSD, and fibrosis model development.
- Experience with in vivo models of inflammation and fibrosis, including proficiency in designing and executing preclinical studies to evaluate therapeutic efficacy.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting at high-level meetings, external conferences, and managing cross-functional collaborations.
- Publication and patent track record in the fields of immunology, inflammation, or fibrosis, with a strong presence in scientific literature and conferences.
- Familiarity with regulatory and translational aspects of developing therapies for fibrotic diseases and immune modulation is highly desirable.
What We Offer:
- The opportunity to lead and innovate within a fast-paced, dynamic biotech environment, with access to cutting-edge technologies and resources.
- A collaborative and inclusive work culture, fostering innovation and scientific excellence.
- Comprehensive benefits and competitive compensation packages, including long-term career growth opportunities.
- Engagement in high-impact projects at the forefront of immunology, inflammation, and fibrosis research.
