REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Director of the Academic Achievement Program
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate or Assistant Director will be part of an existing team, and will work closely with faculty, other administrators, and students. In general, job duties include teaching and administering courses and workshops (online and in-person) to help students succeed in law school and prepare for the bar exam.
Law School Academic Support:

Teaching academic support workshops and programs for the general student population and other teachings as assigned by the Dean, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, or Director.

Counseling and working with students individually, regarding academic support, study skills, and bar exam readiness.

Assisting with academic advising and counseling for students on Academic Oversight and Academic Referral.

Assisting with the identification of other groups at risk of failing the bar and developing programs to provide support.

Assisting with the administration of the law school’s Dean’s Fellow program, where upper-division law students work with 1L students in an inclusive and comprehensive first-year program. This includes the development of written policies and procedures for administering and running the program.

Collaborating and coordinating with faculty on matters focused on skills-based teaching, student learning, and formative assessments.
Bar Exam Preparation and Support:

Providing support for graduates during the bar review periods as they prepare for the February and July bar exams, in the form of individual monitoring and advising.

Assisting with the collection and analysis of data related to bar exam outcomes.

Collaboration with Bar Success in developing academic support workshops to prepare for the NextGen exam and Uniform Bar Exam.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Mandatory Qualifications:

J.D. degree with a record of high academic achievement from an ABA-accredited law school.

Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Excellent oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
3 years or more experience teaching academic support or bar preparation programs in a classroom setting.

Experience working with international students and non-native English speakers.

Experience with both academic support and bar exam preparation.
