The MY HERO Project Gallery Director /Arts Outreach Director
This position is responsible for the artworks/information and all content streamed on the gallery homepage as well as in the Gallery itself. This job also involves interfacing with elementary, middle and high school educators as well as with professional artists whose work is in line with the mission of our project- to celebrate the best of humanity.
The Gallery Curator reviews, approves and activates all visual art that is submitted for exhibition in our virtual Gallery. Those artworks must be original and/or properly credited.
The Arts Outreach Director is responsible for outreach online to arts educators and to hosting hero art workshops in schools, community centers, and at festivals where programmed. The Arts Outreach Director will work with MY HERO team to build partnerships with Museums, Schools and Community Art Centers.
The Gallery Director works closely with the rest of the MY HERO Editorial staff including the Homepage Editor, the Story Editor, the Media Arts Educator and the Education Director.
This position requires attendance at online meetings once a week as well as the hours necessary to keep the gallery up to date and functioning in line with the rest of the MY HERO Project.
Essential Job Functions:
Candidates for this position should have a MFA in Art/Arts Education or a MA in Art History. Knowledge of the history of art, styles and the role that art has played in reflecting social and political currents.
Knowledge of standards-based art curricula for elementary, middle and high school as well as experience teaching art classes will be extremely helpful for this role.
Applicants should be comfortable using Graphic art programs like Adobe Illustrator as well as Photoshop to be able create the necessary visual material to promote the Gallery and the MY HERO Project. Applicants should be comfortable using social media and diverse platforms online to engage partnerships and to bring new content to the web site and to share existing content when appropriate on social media platforms.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
