Summary:
The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all daily accounting operations, provide timely and accurate financial reporting, develop and enforce policies and procedures, establish and maintain internal controls, and provide financial expertise that helps drive effective business decisions. The Controller is responsible for providing strategic financial guidance to leadership, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and leading the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures to contribute to the overall success of the organization. They will ensure comprehensive, accurate and timely financial statements and reports, presenting key insights and trends to leadership. They will develop and implement internal controls, minimizing financial risks and ensure compliance with industry regulations. They will coordinate successful internal and external audits. They will hire, train, manage and develop accounting staff providing consistent guidance and constructive feedback.
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic financial guidance that ensures compliance with GAAP and leads the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures to contribute to the organization's overall success.

Ensure comprehensive, accurate, and timely financial statement reporting. Prepare reports that present key insights, trends, and variances to leadership. Perform monthly analytical reviews of monthly financial statements that highlight deviations from budget and any other noted unusual variances that are concerns or opportunities for improving financial performance or decision making.

Oversee accounting operations to include general ledger, fixed assets, monthly close process, account reconciliations and internal/external audit function.

Provide guidance and leadership to accounting team including hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring, and goal setting that creates an environment of trust and productivity.

Steer a productive and motivating work environment for team by promoting cooperation and teamwork across departments, staying abreast of management, leadership, and team building strategies and advocating for them.

Lead the research and interpretation of complex accounting topics and transactions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

Provide technical guidance on various accounting matters including revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, business combinations and other relevant topics that arise.

Construct and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues.

Identify and implement procedures to make the close and reporting process more efficient and accurate.

Works cross functionally to drive the selection, implementation, and execution on all upgrades of financial systems and processes that ensure we are maximizing our use of technology and streamlining operations that scale with our complex and fast-paced growth.

Mature, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines. Enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.

Develop and manage internal controls by establishing and maintaining an internal audit function to regularly review financial processes, controls, and procedures.

Plan, coordinate, and lead annual external audit. Will serve as the primary interface to external auditors.

Communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business to justify certain financial recommendations.

Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures.

Support leadership by undertaking assignments on ad hoc reporting, projects, or other special initiatives as appropriate.

Upholds and demonstrates leadership in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy, and MMAD volunteering opportunities.

Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance or related field.
-
7 - 10 years of relevant experience performing duties and responsibilities including previous supervisory experience.

3+ years management experience preferred

C.P.A. required; MBA preferred.

Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts.

Strong desire to continuously research and implement ideas to improve accounting activities.

Ability to develop strong working relationships with cross functional partners to drive success of organization.

To perform this job successfully an individual should have significant experience using MS Office suite, internet-based software and Accounting or ERP software. SAP is a plus.
