SUMMARY: The VP, Account Director role is responsible for the day to day running of accounts in all aspects including financial processes and profitability while proactively managing and developing team members. This role will work with clients to understand and develop insights about the client’s business, competitive context, cultural nuances and target audience. This role is expected to consistently provide brand strategy, excellent client service, as well as represent client needs and goals within the agency, to ensure the best quality of work is produced. This role will build and extend relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities and proactively inform clients of new strategies that meet their business objectives. While retention and growth of accounts is a key responsibility, the expectation is that the VP, Account Director will also generate new business within current clients and new clients and will lead new business pitches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Agency Operations:
Finances: understands agency revenue and profitability model. Ensures work is completed within budget by project. Owns the revenue and forecast for the brand. Determines and negotiates budget needs. Seeks to optimize agency services and internal resources
Keeps management informed of account status, problems and involves senior management as needed
Serves as team leader to both integrated agency team and to the client.
Develops and mentors staff

Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of client’s business
Thorough understanding of industry business trends. Has broad knowledge of what’s going on in the marketplace to offer solutions to clients
Cultivates relationships with appropriate thought leaders to help maintain solid knowledge of client’s business

Strategy:
Owns the brand strategy. Owns and communicates to the internal team, the overall client vision and the vision for all marketing programs for client’s business.
Responsible for overseeing the brand strategy and tactics
Spearheads the presentation to client of annual plans and interim programs
Responsible for new business opportunities and driving growth

Tactics and Execution:
Provides clear strategic direction to agency team. Evaluates creative product against strategic direction and provides constructive feedback
Approaches brand from holistic marketing perspective, looks at all media and forms of digital marketing

Client Relationship:
Owns the client relationship on assigned brands. Effectively sells the creative product to the client.
Very client facing. Outstanding client service and relationship building
This role is the agency champion, seeks opportunities to showcase agency work
Seeks opportunities to grow business within current account and new accounts
Excellent presentation skills
Problem solver for client issues

Expected travel to Client meetings and community/educations events: Up to 30%

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
8 – 10 years of Agency experience (pharma/healthcare highly preferred)
5+ years of management experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organized and creative problem solving skills, and detail oriented.
Experience with budgets and finance
Ability to translate business and marketing requirements into viable solutions
