Sr Manager, Digital Health Technology
Location: Deerfield, Illinois

The Sr Manager, Digital Health Technology sets the technology strategy and leads central execution for Baxter’s digital health portfolio.
This role operates inside Baxter’s Digital Health group, which focuses on enabling Baxter’s global business units to deliver impactful digital solutions that transform how our customers deliver healthcare.
The role requires a blend of technical and commercial expertise, with the ability to understand business dynamics, translate digital product concepts into technical roadmaps, decompose those roadmaps into specific steps and lead cross-functional and multi-business teams to build and scale the result across Baxter.
For example, this role will lead the pan-Baxter connectivity strategy focused on unlocking data from our products to power our pipeline of digital health products. Success in this area turns our device data into a strategic and innovation asset.
This role will also support creation of internal digital health platforms that accelerate development and delivery of our digital health pipeline, including areas like clinical decision support, digital diagnostics, or predictive analytics. Success in this area reduces cost and time to deliver digital products to market.

An ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, bring a unique lens of strategic and technical healthcare expertise to the table, and be an articulate and passionate internal change agent for Digital Health and digital transformation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Work collaboratively with business unit technical leaders to synchronize platform strategy and architecture, develop capabilities and components to facilitate adoption, implementation, and life cycle management.
Establish device connectivity and interoperability strategy, communicate and champion approach.
Analyze multiple technical roadmaps to identify common elements and opportunities for collaboration, and reduce strategy to actionable steps delivering key digital product infrastructure
Effectively communicate across multi-national/multi-site organization.
Serve as technical SME in execution of enterprise clinical data and API strategy
Support external partnerships to accelerate innovation, including EMRs or PaaS / SaaS solutions
Serve as the primary point-of-contact and “thought partner” for global business units to support problem identification and identify potential digital technology solutions.
Work effectively with cross functional teams including quality, program management, manufacturing, service, regulatory, and medical to deliver high impact, on schedule, on budget technical solutions
Global travel up to 25%
Technical leadership experience across a multi-business organization leading digital product development
Proven capability in the development of complex software based medical devices
Highly proficient in current and emerging engineering methods, principles and system integration techniques related to real time embedded, cloud and enterprise software
Ability to establish a technical vision, identify the tactical steps to achieve, foster innovation and lead a diverse global design team to realize the objective of the vision.
Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability, HL7 v2, HL7 CDA, or FHIR protocols
Working knowledge of digital medical product regulation, quality, data privacy and residency
Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills; able to manage ambiguity and drive outcomes in complex organizational contexts
Able to write clear and concise documentation, excellent written and spoken communication with superb presentation skills
Built and shipped health IT applications incorporating: clinical decision support, predictive analytics, or machine learning / artificial intelligence
Working knowledge of Agile development in a regulated environment
Experience with product & process development under QMS processes (ISO9001, ISO13485, CFR)
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools and process
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or related discipline; Master's degree preferred
7+ years engineering or development experience
Digital product development experience in MedTech, health IT, life science, pharmaceutical or technology industry
