Impact Summary: Knowledge of principles methods and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems. Utilizes a family and client-centered approach and supports recovery and resiliency. Primarily provides human service and counseling work utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to assist clients in the solution of varied mental health problems. Work involves providing individual counseling services tailored to meet each individual client’s total mental health care needs. Conferring with the treatment team, conducting client evaluation interviews, determining primary diagnosis and treatment methodology, maintaining appropriate client records reflecting treatment provided and client progress.

Representative Examples of Work Performed or Managed:

  • Provides individual therapy using a variety of treatment modalities.
  • Conducts client interviews/evaluations.
  • Maintains appropriate client records and confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Acts as client’s advocate.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with other staff and treatment team to develop treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with relevant agencies and family as needed.
  • Has knowledge of community resources and makes appropriate referrals as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort: Mostly sedentary office working conditions. Lift 25 lbs. Must have the ability to work at a computer, perform bending, use arms for reaching, use finger and hand dexterity, speak on a telephone, and converse with others.


Individual must have the ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate a deep concern for the health and well being of others. Must be able to interact with co-workers, patients, and staff to instill confidence and facilitate communication. Must possess sufficient medical education/training to qualify for and maintain a Nebraska LIMHP license. No provisional licenses at this time.
