State Street’s Business Controls Advisory Group (BCAG) supports risk excellence through the development of policies, guidance and training related to First Line of Defense control monitoring and enhancement activities. In this role, the successful candidate will report to the Head of BCAG Methodology and interact on a regular basis with business-aligned Controls Assurance Teams, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance and Internal Audit to complement and enhance the risk and control infrastructure.


  • Advise business-aligned Controls Assurance Teams globally on all aspects of executing risk-based assurance events and enhancing the system of internal control
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of methodology and tools for assessing, testing and monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls, as well as the identification and management of issues/internal control deficiencies
  • Lead elements of Business Controls Working Group meetings with a focus on changes or enhancements to methodology
  • Collaborate with BCAG Quality Assurance and Training to develop guidance that promotes best practices and further understanding of methodological concepts
  • Oversee reporting on the status and outcomes of internal controls assurance activities
  • Re-enforce an inherent culture of accountability and ownership for implementation and execution of internal controls across all levels and functions within the organization
  • Perform other duties in support of BCAG projects as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business or related field
  • 6-10 years of experience with risk assessment and internal controls methodology and testing; public accounting or internal audit experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable about the COSO 2013 Framework
  • Knowledgeable about processes, risks and controls design
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication, influencing and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
