Purpose Statement

The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator II, Data Analytics.

The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools. About 25,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.

The job of Coordinator II, Data Analytics is responsible for the management and analysis of data to support building/district-level goals and state/federal requirements as they relate to assessment, state reporting, mandated MOSIS Core Data reporting and creating user-friendly data reports. Also responsible for assisting users with the proper use of the district’s data warehouse, providing guidance in the interpretation of data, and serving as a resource for data requests and promoting depth of understanding and application.

Essential Functions

Assist district personnel in the monitoring data reports for the purpose of improving student achievement.
Analyze usage of data reports, data components, dashboard for the purpose of maintaining efficient and responsible reporting systems, data compliance and analysis needs in the
Oversee assigned work activities and/or projects as team lead for the purpose of providing guidance and support to other staff and to ensure completion of projects within established guidelines.
Assist with creating, auditing and submitting MOSIS data for the purpose of ensuring efficient and accurate reporting submissions to
Lead implementation of best practices as it related to data reporting tools, databases and data systems for the purpose of ensuring high availability and performance of district
Generate graphic visualizations of data using Microsoft PowerBI dashboard in effort to assist school leaders in making information meaningful and actionable. Design and integrate data reporting environments from district information systems.
Administer reporting processes of district data through the use of the district's reporting tools and dashboard for the purpose of maintaining data reporting quality.
Troubleshoot reporting systems, system applications and the supporting software for the purpose of identifying and correcting malfunctions and other operational problems.
Coordinate and respond to data inquiries from a variety of district personnel for the purpose of providing support and technical advice regarding data use and analysis.
Manage project board for district-wide data request (internal) and research request (external).
Collaborate with a variety of internal parties on the collection of mandated data and integration of systems (e.g. district personnel, systems analyst, programmers, database administrators, network administrators, users, ) to ensure accurate and secure data in district information systems.
Serve as department liaison to Information Technology and Risk Management (as related to student data requested contractually through Memorandums of Understanding).
Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required for their functions.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: knowledge of standard query language (SQL), Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) general knowledge of Cognos Business Intelligence (BI).

Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: strong customer service skills; adhering to data security practices; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance

In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.

Terms of Employment

The terms of employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Missouri public school and Board of Education policy, as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by Collective Bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between SPS and that Collective Bargaining representative.

Experience

Job related experience within a specialized field is required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in job-related area. 3-5 years of experience as MS SQL database with extensive work in data warehouse reporting

Miscellaneous Requirements

Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
