Job Summary
Operates, diagnoses, maintains and repairs HVAC/R systems and equipment for MTech Mechanical Services commercial/industrial clients. Also provides technical education for team members as needed.
Essential Job Function
- Operates and diagnoses HVAC/R systems and equipment up to 100 tons cooling capacity, 10 million BTU heating capacity, and boilers up to 150 HP.
- Monitors systems to ensure efficiency and compliance using manufacturer’s handbooks, MTech procedures, and local codes.
- Ensures client satisfaction with assigned clients/projects.
- Interprets drawings and schematics; installs and tests HVAC/R components.
- Verifies equipment registrations per local, state, and federal codes.
- Maintains and repairs HVAC/R equipment and systems.
- Plans and performs recurring maintenance and seasonal overhauls.
- Analyzes and isolates malfunctions using drawings, schematics, manufacturer’s handbooks, MTech procedures, and local codes.
- Familiar with State, Federal, and Local codes; holds journeyman (F29 or F31) licenses for Denver and/or other local municipalities.
- Ensures compliance with environmental regulations for fuels, refrigerants, and hazardous materials.
- Modifies equipment for increased reliability and efficiency.
- Repairs or replaces components as needed.
- Completes all required paperwork (MSI & Keystyle) at the job site and maintains safety compliance paperwork.
- Maintains shop tools, tool lists, and equipment.
- Supports construction and other departments as needed.
- Operates a company vehicle according to MTech policies and procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant field experience required (for Journeyman level only)
- High school diploma/GED required
- HVAC/R Certificate or degree preferred
- Universal EPA Certificate
- Must be approved to drive per MTech’s driving standards
- Highly motivated and independent self-starter
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Expertise in all aspects of HVAC service
- Ability to work on call when needed
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Continued training is required
