We are currently seeking to hire a Staff Attorney to join our Accident and Health Legal department. A&H Health Legal is responsible for the various legal functions of Crum & Forster’s Accident & Health division, including contract development and negotiation, litigation management, claim reviews, and any other miscellaneous legal support to the various disciplines.
Draft Producer, TPA and MGU Agreements; Reinsurance Treaties; Licensing and Vendor Agreements, NDAs, and other various agreements as assigned;
Perform initial analysis of wording in various incoming agreements by cross-checking against A&H Division’s standard required contract clauses / provisions.
Negotiate with internal / external partners contract wording around business terms and arrangements, and lead discussions amongst all related parties to drive the agreement delivery process;
Support both small and complex claims litigation management, including settlement negotiation and Release development; Case Summary preparations for outside counsel; and interfacing with Contracts & Litigation Coordinator to track the status of all litigation matters and deadlines;
Support claim reviews including attorney letters / grievances; editing / drafting responses when required, and coordinating with the Regulatory area for proper reporting;
Collect complete relevant documents relating to subpoenas and responding timely;
Provide legal advice and guidance to the respective underwriting, finance, claim and marketing/sales units as well as to the LRC on a variety of legal/compliance issues and identified Company risks;
Assist Underwriting with PNOCs, Letters of Intent / Understanding, etc.;
Operate as a partner with the business team, not just as a legal advisor, by working together to find solutions to successfully achieve the business goals and objectives while maintaining compliance and mitigating exposures.
Other special projects as required.
J.D degree and admitted to a State Bar
1-3 years’ experience with an established law firm and/or in house legal department, preferably with A&H background.
Some travel required.
