Job Summary:
The Tax Manager will review and prepare complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, and review complex business entity returns. Working directly with customers is part of the responsibility of this role.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparation and review of trust and estate returns.
- Review of complex business entity returns (partnerships, S Corporations, some C Corporations)
- Review individual tax returns.
- Prepare complex individual tax returns.
- Tax planning and projections.
- Tax notice and audit resolution.
- Interact with customers on a regular basis.
- Uses the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns.
- Calculate taxes owed or refunds due to customers, consult tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations.
- Present approved returns to customers.
- File tax return extensions for customers as needed.
- Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
- Contribute to a team-oriented firm culture.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and apply tax laws and changes in the preparation process.
- Experience with high net worth individual tax returns, trust and estate tax returns.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn tax accounting and preparation software.
- Experience with engagement management software is a plus.
- Familiarity with California income tax law is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- EA or CPA required.
- Experience with trust and estate tax returns required.
- 7+ years of experience required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
