Mechanical engineer supporting mechanical systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems and BAS (Building Automation System) designs serving Microsoft datacenters. Candidate will work with senior / principal engineers to manage, review and coordinate the delivery of datacenter mechanical systems, power distribution systems and backup power systems that support Microsoft datacenters. Candidate will also work on the technical review and analysis of the lease and colocation datacenter from external providers for compliance with Microsoft requirements.
Influence selection of various mechanical systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems and BAS (Building Automation System) serving Microsoft datacenters. Participate in specification and drawing development, HVAC load calculations and site construction observation reports. This position will require travel to project stakeholder locations for activities such as “Factory Witness Testing”, interaction with engineering consultants, interaction with equipment suppliers, commissioning support, and other sites as required to meet Microsoft business objectives.
The position will require travel to sites for technical reviews, equipment testing, interaction with engineering consultants and equipment suppliers and mechanical commissioning support. 50% travel is anticipated for this role.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in engineering / consulting / construction engineering
Minimum 2 years’ experience with design, construction, operation or maintenance of large scale and complex mechanical engineering systems (Datacenters, Micro Electronics are two examples of relevant industries)
Understand fundamentals of HVAC system design and psychrometrics
Basic knowledge of building codes and regulations
Ability to present using the MS Office Suite; MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
Ability to work on a team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments
