Field Sales Manager

We work hard to build authentic relationships with all Virginians by communicating with them in relevant, unique and surprising ways. Operating entirely on revenue from game sales, rather than tax dollars, the Virginia Lottery generates approximately $1.6 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools.

The Virginia Lottery is looking for an energetic and motivated individual who will provide training and coaching to a team of 8 area managers and 74 sales representatives. This position will direct all field sales activities throughout Virginia; develop sales strategies; research and identify training and sales opportunities to optimize the revenue potential for the Lottery; and partner with other Lottery team members to ensure revenue, program, and product goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of sales techniques, route sales and territory management and development; proven leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to manage a large, geographically diverse sales force (more than 25 employees); and a thorough understanding of current technologies as they relate to field sales management. At least five years of experience in sales management, with strong budgeting, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency with computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
Field sales experience in consumer packaged goods, and sales force automation software on a laptop or tablet PC experience a plus. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or equivalent from an accredited college or university desired. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Preferred candidate will have experience working within the Lottery.

Special Requirements
An extensive amount of travel is required.

The selected candidate must possess a valid Driver’s license, and be able to pass a background investigation.
