This position is full-time with probable overtime and extensive travel.

As a Telecom Laborer you’ll be responsible for working with your hands and assisting directly and indirectly Operators, Lineman, and Splicers. Laborers jobs include assisting in the placing, rearranging and removing poles, conduit, cable lines, open wire, drops, inside wire, and block wire. You'll work others to perform installation and maintenance on outside plant equipment. As a Laborer, you’ll install lines and cables (including fiber, coax, and copper) using hand tools as well as construction equipment to complete the work. Most often, you'll work outside as part of a team performing installation, maintenance and repair on facilities that start from outside the Central Office (CO) and stop at the terminal or at a customer's building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Pull fiber/copper/coax cable through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically
Fill out paperwork as required
Perform work across all divisions (underground, aerial, buried, fiber, copper, coax)
Performs other duties as requested by crew leader
Lay cable, conduit and fiber innerduct
Keep detailed record of work activity
Unreel, pull and string wire and cable from pole to pole
Install poles and place wires or cables
Dig holes, restore landscaping
Work with hand tools
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Ability stand, walk, crawl, and work in all environments, on ladders, in attic spaces, on ceilings, in tunnels, on poles, and in trenches to access various installation and construction points as required
Willing to work outside in varying weather conditions
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation are required
Class A Commercial Drivers License preferred but not required
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50+ pounds. Carry objects weighing up to 70 pounds for short distances.
Ability to pass a stringent background and drug screen.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required, technical or college degree preferred
