Currently, we are seeking a Structural Engineer to support our engineering technicians in performing structural reviews for the cities/states we currently install solar. Responsibilities will include working with the team to develop and improve structural calculations for submission to local jurisdictions for review and approval, evaluating roof systems for adequacy of our product, contacting building officials regarding revisions, being a resource to engineering technicians regarding engineering questions and assisting in refining the overall review process. Candidates must be a licensed S.E. and possess a history of strong leadership, communication skills, and problem solving skills.

Key Job Duties:
Developing guidelines and tools for the evaluation of standard projects that utilize typical timber framing practices

Supporting engineering technicians in the evaluation of non-standard homes

Developing standard drawings, details, and calculations for use by engineering technicians

Coordinating and directing technical projects, developing detailed plans to accomplish goals.

Evaluating technology, resource needs, and currently available design tools to improve team efficiency and quality

Developing and implementing policies, standards and procedures within the team to govern structural analysis and code compliance decisions

Coordinating with cross-functional departments to streamline processes

Providing technical training to engineering technicians in the form of classroom presentations as well as hands-on coaching

Necessary Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with timber analysis tools and governing code requirements
Residential construction knowledge
Ability to utilize structural analysis software including RISA and Excel
Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
Ability to manage projects
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Ability to quickly become licensed in the 20 states we currently service
Undergraduate Degree (BS), in engineering
PE license mandatory, SE license a plus
3-5 years licensed experience in building design
