Engineer, System Design

Engineer, Device and New Technology validation will be responsible for developing the test strategies & test plans and executing these test plans for critical foundational and regulatory device technologies, including 5G, LTE, VoLTE, ePDG, HSPA+, UMTS, and AGPS. This includes working on cutting edge technologies and features to bring them to the end customers with the best quality.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions

Technical System Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert for the Device QA organization. Review and implement network and device requirements for creating the test scopes and plans. Ensure devices are launched with full compliance of technical standards.
Technical Engineering Services: Closely interact with T-Mobile's network and device design teams, as well as external network, handset, and chipset vendors, to define the strategy and tactics to help drive leading edge technologies to market while maintaining the highest level of quality. Analyze and troubleshoot feedback from vendors.
Innovation: Work with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/LTE/IMS/5G in relation to mobile terminal signaling and protocols, in order to develop and validate deployment on the T-Mobile USA network. Utilize 5G NR, Long Term Evolution (LTE), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), GSM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth telecommunication standards to test and validate handset and data terminal prototypes from different vendors.
Technical Leadership: Lead cross-functional engineering operations and project management teams in realizing our vision for our smartphones, tablets, data sticks, and other devices performing long-term planning and resolving near-term issues.
Collaboration: Work with the manager and product manager to escalate critical testing issues to vendors and different groups, ensuring that all issues are resolved prior to final approval. Communicate strategy to executive, engineering, regulatory, and product teams, and collaborate with business owners and provide direction to cross-functional project teams.

Minimum Required

2+ Years Technical engineering experience
Performing Radio Air designing and developing, and validating critical foundational and regulatory device technologies, including, 5G, LTE, IMS, VoLTE, HSPA+, UMTS, GSM, and AGPS.
Working with technical requirements for advanced device technology features including, ePDG, RCS, IR94, MIMO, Carrier Aggregation, Receive Diversity, CPC, radio performance, power management, audio performance, chipset roadmap and certification, E911, CMAS, and HAC.
Utilizing RF, parametric, and protocol mobile test equipment including, Anritsu, Spirent, Anite/Keysight, Racal, Aspects, Rohde & Schwarz and Network Analyzers.
Tools: Debugging and analyzing using logging tools including TEMS, QXDM, and Wireshark to assist in the formation of specification and validation tests cases.
Standards: Utilizing 3GPP standards to develop and validate telecommunication technologies and features.
