Position Overview:
The Summer Conference Assistant (SCA) position is an integral part of the Summer Conference operation. SCAs serve as front-line staff members for Salem State University/Capstone on Campus Management Conference Guests. Additionally, SCAs play a crucial role in organizing the logistical components of the conference operation including guest check-in/out, room preparation, and building upkeep. Successful candidates will be able to provide excellent customer service to conference guests and complete logistical/administrative tasks in a thorough and timely manner.

SCAs will work both “Front Desk Shifts,” in which they will be responsible for greeting guests and assisting with check-in/out procedures and “Duty-Shifts,” in which they will be responsible for addressing logistical, administrative, and facility related needs. Specific duties include:
  • Great residents and guests upon arrival
  • Supervise entrance areas, and report any concerns to the appropriate party
  • Assist in the preparation of keys and welcome letters prior to arrival
  • Respond to noise complaints, facilities issues, or any guest concerns
  • Trouble-shoot any issues that arise
  • Consult with professional staff in the event of emergency situations
  • Assist in the turnover of rooms for guests including linen placement/removal and room cleaning
  • Clean common areas as needed
  • Complete Room Inspection and Room Inventory forms as required
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry
  • Post notices and information as directed
  • Complete all shift “to-do list” items
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Time Commitment:
  • SCAs will work 20-40 hours each week depending on the need of the conference program. This is considered a seasonal, full time position. SCAs should be free of any other outside jobs, or time commitments that would interfere with the SCA position
  • Permission must be granted by immediate supervisors for weekend leaves and/or extended vacations
  • Attend a weekly staff meeting (schedule determined at the beginning of the summer)
  • Contract will begin May 27th, 2019 and end in mid-August 2019
  • SCAs must be able to work overnight shifts (12:00am-6:30am)
  • Single occupancy room in a 4-person apartment to be shared with other SCAs (valued at approximately $2,700)
  • SCAs will be paid an hourly rate of $12 biweekly
  • Previous experience in customer service, reception, hospitality, sales, catering, or related field preferred
Salem State University Student who has/intends to register for the Fall 2019 semester
  • Selected candidates must be able to successfully pass drug
