Reporting to an Education Director and/or the Director of Early Childhood Learning, the pre-K Teacher is responsible to prepare and deliver age appropriate, standards-based instruction to children enrolled in the BGCSNV program. Teachers will be responsible to maintain a safe, inclusive, and responsive educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning. Teachers will also serve as the case manager for students with special needs and/or disabilities.
Some of the essential job duties for this role include:
- Provide the opportunity for all students to learn in a safe, supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment that positively promotes learning.
- Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
- Adhere to all standards regarding safety. Make timely reports of any incidents, hazards, or conditions which could affect the safety of children and/or staff. Participates in safety assessments and planning for safety improvement.
- Develop, implement, and/or administer appropriate curriculum, aligned with the Nevada Pre–K Standards.
- Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based strategies to meet the needs of all students, including but not limited to, students who have been identified as at-risk and above grade level, students with individualized educational programs (IEP), and English language learners (ELL).
- Analyze student data and progress with a balanced assessment system to provide effective and targeted instruction and interventions to maximize student learning.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with administrators, other EC and BGCSNV staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
- Implement and act as the case manager of the IEP for students with disabilities.
- Implement adopted reporting system for the Pre–K Early Childhood outcomes.
Preferred Candidates will have the following:
Approved Nevada Department of Education Teaching credentials are required
- Nevada Department of Education Early Childhood Teacher License, OR 5.2 on Nevada Registry, OR any one of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or ECSE,
- Bachelor's Degree in any field and working toward permanent license in a state-approved ARL in Early Childhood,
- Bachelor's Degree in any field and 35 or more ECE post-secondary credits,
- Bachelor's Degree in any field and enrolled in TEACH Early Childhood program.
In addition, the preferred candidate will have:
- 4,000 hours of direct experience.
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills. Ability to interact professionally with the public, vendors and other professional staff.
- The ability to occasionally work irregular or extended hours.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google suite of productivity applications (Word, Excel, Forms, Outlook, etc.), Bright Wheel platform and curriculum, and Infinite Campus platform.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Compensation: Starting at $56,000 annually.
Eligible for full-time benefits after the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Employment with BGCSNV may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
