Position Summary
The Production Superintendent reports directly to the Plant Manager and will be responsible for all the plant operations of Rockwell American’s Manufacturing plant in Plant City, FL. The Superintendent will lead the plant’s hourly workforce to meet aggressive output targets while also helping to drive continuous improvement in product quality, process efficiency and safety. The plant itself encompasses 45,000 ft2 and has approximately 35 non-union employees operating on one shift.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in all phases of a plant operation.
Prepares operation schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality meet specifications.
Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Has full authority for personnel actions.
Extensive knowledge of department processes.
Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisor.
Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a comparable technical discipline and at least 6 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have 6 years of progressive supervisory responsibilities (including at least three years as a Superintendent of a similar-sized facility) within a heavy manufacturing environment with an emphasis on high-volume metal fabrication (e.g. forming, cutting, heating).

Familiarity with the common tools of a continuous improvement organizational culture such as Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, Kaizen or other lean manufacturing methodologies and the monitoring and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
Experience with industrial automation.
Experience leading a highly seasonal operation requiring rapid changes in output and a high degree of product variation.
Experience with successfully implementing 5S programs.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and reporting tools.
Exceptional problem solving and decision making abilities.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
Must be results oriented with a high energy level.
