Your Opportunity

Our NYC office is in search of a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer. You will work directly for the commissioning director and be responsible for the management and delivery of commissioning projects. This is a dynamic environment where you will be working and collaborating with multiple different groups.

Your Key Responsibilities

Evaluate fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements, and industry standards.
Prepare commissioning deliverables and products including checklists, field reports, specifications, commissioning plans, commissioning report and writing sequences of operations.
Coordinate and attend construction kick-off meetings.
Preform commissioning design reviews for mechanical, electrical and plumbing design and review MEP submittals.
Organize and coordinate equipment startups and functional testing with contractors.
Review operation & maintenance manuals and develop systems manual for all tested equipment.
Track and over-see training of O&M staff.
Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
Assist in developing proposals and responses to RFP’s on commissioning projects.
Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future and or current projects
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of the building systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection/alarm, and others.
Organize and lead equipment performance testing and capable of reviewing the technical testing reports provided by the contractors.
Ensure all necessary commissioning documentation is produced in a timely manner and co-operate with technical documentation teams to ensure timely delivery of O&M manuals.
Produces commissioning documentations that meet required codes and quality assurance standards.
Executing and managing commissioning tasks within time budgeted.
Responsible for meeting the client’s project financial goals and objectives.
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, engineers, architects, contractors, vendors, and other design professionals.
Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in area of expertise.
Interstate travel is periodically required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials

Strong technical understanding in building Electrical, HVAC and/or Plumbing design.
Strong knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, NEC/NFPA, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
Strong knowledge of building electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Strong understanding of all commissioning phases and commissioning document production, and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Newforma, Trane Trace & eQuest
Ability to drive, travel, and work after normal business hours (Mon-Fri after 6pm) and over the weekends.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field and at least 6 years of related experience. EIT, PE, CEM, BCXP, CBCP, or BCXA is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
