JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Extension at University Park seeks to hire a Summer Intern for the AgVentures Agritourism project. This internship is a joint venture between Penn State Extension and the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County (CBICC) and the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau.
The Intern will provide support by building and maintaining a database for agritourism establishments in Centre County; build and maintain profiles on the Happy Valley AgVentures website, which will involve outreach to establishments; and assist with Happy Valley AgVentures initiatives, events, and programming. The Intern will write news releases, social media posts, and assist with general marketing to increase awareness and participation. This job opportunity introduces the student to career opportunities within Penn State Extension.
This position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently. Must be a team player who can work with diverse audiences. The Summer Intern works under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Programming for the Energy, Business, and Community Vitality Team of Penn State Extension. This is a summer position beginning in mid-May and ending in Mid-August, with flexibility depending upon availability of the applicant. Applicants must be enrolled in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences.
Preference will be given to applicants with undergraduate coursework in business, entrepreneurship, education, marketing, agriculture or other agricultural or entrepreneurship related fields. This position requires the applicant to operate a motor vehicle as part of the job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks to work with minors. Applicant must be professional and also be willing to work flexible hours.
CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
