Global Meeting Services (GMS) is a team of professionals who work collaboratively to source, plan, manage, and execute events for various functions across BCG. This is a hands-on, high-energy role focused on managing delivery and implementation. Team members need to be flexible, team-first professionals.
The objectives of the GMS function are to create the right balance between efficiency, effectiveness, and service while driving down costs and delivering a high quality experience.
The GMS team serves as a strategic advisor and tactical support network to our worldwide, regional, and local teams who are responsible for the delivery of successful events and projects.
Under the general direction of the Global Meetings Manager, this role will manage the delivery of conference and event planning services, which includes but is not limited to event design and implementation, onsite support, negotiation of master service agreements (MSA) and global contracts and support for a wide variety of local, regional and worldwide internal and external conferences and meetings.
The candidate will act as a thought partner and subject matter expert, defining and implementing continuous improvement across meeting-related services.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage a team of Meeting Coordinators and Senior Coordinators to deliver high value, costs effective meetings and events.
Train and develop Coordinators to ensure adoption of industry and company best practices in meeting management
Coordinate with functions across BCG to ensure adoption of appropriate financial, risk, and legal requirements.
Creatively solve problems on behalf of clients seeking optimal long term solutions
Build long term relationships with vendors (hotels, service providers, etc.).
Assign Coordinators to projects and maintain long term view of needed resources to accomplish annual events load. This includes developing a network of expert contractors
Provide operational expertise and on-site management for worldwide programs ranging in size from 10 to 3000 attendees.
Basic Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Hospitality or related field
Experience managing a global team
4 + years related experience in the event planning and/or hotel industry
Organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities; ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
Independent worker but with strong collaboration skills
Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the willingness to be an active team player
Excellent time management skills; must work well with deadlines
Highly responsive customer service orientation
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Technical and functional expertise
Strong understanding and technical knowledge of hospitality industry, including space planning, accommodations and food and beverage
Skilled in contract negotiation
Creative problem solving, analytical skills and decision making
Experience managing a global meetings operation including working with a global team and suppliers
Ability to independently resolve issues/problems using critical thinking, analysis and data always keeping the big picture in mind
Ability to work independently and autonomously with a high level of initiative and self-motivation
Maintains a high level of intellectual agility and resourcefulness when faced with significant ambiguity and fluctuating priorities and constraints
Technology savvy with experience across a range of digital meeting management tools
Excellent people management skills and leadership experience

Multi lingual highly preferred – strong English skills
Ability to effectively communicate project status to ensure stakeholders are kept informed of progress

This job may require significant global travel (60-100 days travelling during the year)
