KITCHEN SUPERVISOR:
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing all areas of the kitchen during their shift. The Kitchen Supervisor is to motivate and assist all kitchen staff with the direction of the Kitchen Manager, and General Manager and floor managers to ensure that guest experience is of high quality. The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for assisting the kitchen manager to oversee and assign tasks such as food safety training and food quality.
Job Description:
- The Kitchen Supervisor is to assist in the training of kitchen staff.
- The Kitchen Supervisor assists in scheduling the kitchen employees to ensure shifts have proper coverage.
- The Kitchen Supervisor assists in the purchasing and verification of kitchen products when placing orders.
- Assist with for Cost and comparative, and competitive pricing of kitchen products when placing orders.
- Assist the kitchen manager in the control, purchasing, and inventory management of all kitchen products.
- Assist the kitchen manager for all training of new hire, as well as cross-training and developing all kitchen staff.
- The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for all adherence to inherited and new recipes.
- Responsible for enforcing food handling regulations, and all guidelines and policies to increase guest and staff safety.
- The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the morale of the kitchen staff under his direction.
- Responsible for supervision of kitchen staff scheduling as directed by the kitchen manager.
- Working as a team with other kitchen supervisors and kitchen manager, alongside and with the direction of the GM to promote safe and OSHA required guidelines for the kitchen.
- Meet all guidelines from OSHA and San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.
- Coordinating daily with the kitchen manager for operations necessities.
- Delivering superior food and beverage service and maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
- Communicating and meeting with General Manager, on a regular basis to discuss current operating status of the kitchen.
- Communicating and enforcing sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen alongside with managers with the direction of the kitchen manager.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Maintain professional restaurant image, including proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste, and cost with kitchen manager and kitchen staff at the direction of GM.
- To assist the Kitchen Manager with all new and continuous changes in the kitchen, but not limited to the job description in hand.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business management or related field.
- 1 to 2 years of direct supervision of kitchen staff, and food purchasing.
- 3 to 5 years’ prior experience in the restaurant industry.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish a must.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Knowledge of computers MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: Food Planning, preparation, purchasing, sanitation.
- Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Casa Rio policies and procedures.
