Fauquier County is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist II to join the Zoning and Development Services team within the Department of Community Development.
The primary function of this position is performing mandatory erosion and sediment control and stormwater inspections on commercial sites, subdivisions, single-family homes and land disturbance permit projects.
Responsibilities will include reviewing development plans for compliance with erosion and sediment control requirements; providing technical assistance to the general public, engineers, builders, land developers and various County and State agencies in respect to erosion and sediment control issues; and conducting on-site inspections of E&S controls and stormwater facilities during construction.
The successful applicant must have general knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management regulations along with the ability to read and interpret site plans, construction plans and development plans. Field experience is highly desired. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.

Pay: $24.43 - $43.98 per hour
