Job Purpose: Keep industrial buildings in orderly, appropriately operable and physical condition. Duties will include repairs of a wide variety including but not limited to: basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, structural or other repairs as directed. Will be required to meet productivity goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The work may involve working both inside and/or outside. The individuals may perform one or all of the duties listed below. Using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

  • Assembling, installing and/or repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and determining how to correct them, checking repair manuals.
  • Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate on the basis of mechanical principles.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of problems and/or defects.
  • Perform variety of cleaning duties, both interior and exterior of buildings including general landscaping duties.
  • Sweep walks, remove (shovel) snow or other seasonal tasks.
  • Work in the field assisting production with frame set-up or in other utility capacities as need arises.

Education/Experience: Prefer high school graduate or GED. Prefer formal vocational/technical training along with two (2) years of relative experience or proven ability.

Specific Job Skills Required: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, structural, carpentry, MIG/TIG welding and other types of general maintenance. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the repair of buildings. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance. Must be able to read and perform basic math for mixing of cleaning solutions/chemicals. Knowledge should include basic understanding of uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

  • Constant walking and standing. Frequent reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, stooping, squatting, push/pulling up to 150 plus lbs., kneeling, crouching, cervical twisting, torso twisting, crawling, and handling/grasping. Occasional sitting (including sitting on the floor), lifting up to 100 lbs., climbing, and fingering/feeling. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust/focus.
